Lancôme Cooling Cushion Blush

The whole cushion trend is big within the beauty world right now and there’s no sign of its popularity dwindling with cushion foundations, blushers and bronzers being launched from both drugstore and highend brands. Lancôme is the newest brand to join in with the cushion craze with the launch of the Lancôme Cooling Cushion Blush £28 which is available in six different shades to flatter all skin tones, and I have the shade 031 Splash Orange. The Lancôme Cooling Cushion Blush is designed as the following;

Lancôme Cooling Cushion Blush

Vibrancy and freshness of a liquid blush in a portable cushion. This new blusher cushion instantly refreshes by bringing vibrant colour to your cheeks. Choose the intensity you want and apply with the mini puff applicator. Lancôme Blush has never been so fun! Benefits Instantly tints – Refreshes – Brightens.

The Lancôme Cooling Cushion Blush is packaged within a black plastic, rounded compact with a colour coded rose on the top of the lid to match the colour of the blush inside which is handy should you own multiple shades. Inside the lid of the compact there is a mirror, and the cushion blush is protected by a plastic flap which can be flipped open to reveal the cushion.

Inside the blush there is a mini sponge puff complete with a ribbon the back for slipping over your fingers for application, and the sponge puff sits onto the top of the inner lid although it’s not ideal as the blush does transfer onto the inner black, plastic lid but it’s nothing major as it’s easy to wipe clean.

Splash Orange is a gorgeous, vibrant coral orange which does look quite intimidating within the compact so I’d really recommend using a light hand as you can build up a strong colour intensity very easily especially when using the sponge included within the compact.

I personally prefer to apply the blush with a duo fiber brush as I find that I have a lot more control on how much colour I apply to my cheeks, so I simply press the white tips of the duo fiber brush into the cushion and then blend it on to the cheeks, with the shorter black bristles being really effective at blending the blush out for a truly seamless finish.

I love using cream blushes as they tend to sit nicely on my dry skin and I’d describe the cushion formula as being very similar to a cream blush, but the formula is a little thinner than a typical cream blush so it’d possibly be better for those with oilier skins too as it’s so lightweight and watery. I would never have chosen this shade if I’d seen it on counter with the other shades as I much prefer muted and nude blush shades but it’s a lot more wearable than it looks in the pan and I’d love to try the other shades from the collection as Splash Orange is so nice.
