New at the Drugstore Makeup Haul September 2016

I haven’t done a makeup haul on my blog in ages but seeing as I’ve bought quite a few of the newest releases from the drugstore, I thought I’d share what I’ve bought as a makeup haul and give you an idea of some of the products I’ll be testing for the next few months. I’ve mentioned it a few times but this is my favourite time of year for beauty as the Winter/Christmas collections are being revealed and there’s always lots of new releases so I decided to have a little splurge.

Boots used to be my favourite place to shop for beauty but their website is awful and often crashes so I’ve become a massive fan of Superdrug especially as they offer free delivery on all orders with no minimum spend for Health and Beautycard customers. I don’t know if I’m alone on this, but I really don’t like shopping for makeup instore at Boots or Superdrug as the stands are always so busy and I much prefer to do some searching for reviews and swatches online prior to purchasing anything which isn’t something you can easily so instore.

Firstly in my makeup haul I bought a couple of nail products as I just can’t help myself as I’m obsessed with nail polish. I spotted the Maybelline Color Show Preppy Woman Tweedy Topcoat £3.99 and knew I had to buy it even though I couldn’t find any reviews online as it’s just stunning.

It’s a clear polish which contains lots of rose gold tiny glitter particles in little lines and it’s definitely one of the prettiest topcoats I’ve ever seen. I’m currently wearing it layered over a black nail polish and I can’t stop staring at my nails and I imagine I’ll get a lot of wear out of it over the next few months as you could layer it over any nail polish although I think £3.99 is a little pricey for a 7ml polish but I’m glad I bought it.

Then I bought the UNT Ready for Take Off Peelable Base Coat which isn’t a new release nor is it a product from the drugstore but I wanted to include it as I’m excited to try it. I have the OPI Glitter Off Natural Base Coat which is handy, but it’s not the best at peeling off the nails so I’ve been on the hunt for a better peelable base coat and after doing some online research I found that this is one of the best options. I ordered it from the UNT website and they offer free delivery and ship from the US and I didn’t have any customs fees thankfully and it’s just £8.14 which is such great value.

From nails to base.. there are quite a few new foundations right now and I couldn’t help myself but purchase a few within my makeup haul. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen the huge campaign around the new shade range of the L’Oreal True Match Foundation and the claims that they have shades to “match 98% of the UK’s skintone” which I thought was amazing and I ordered the two palest shades as L’Oreal was on a 3 for 2 offer and annoyingly both shades are too dark for me although I’m not surprised by their shades not matching, but I’m pretty sceptical with their claims. I am super pale but I know there are people who are paler than myself but I’ve given one shade to my mum and I’ve kept 1C which I’ll lighten with a white foundation but it’s disappointing to say the least.

I also bought the L’Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation in the shade Porcelain which is the palest shade, as it was on offer for £7.50 instead of £14.99 – I’d never pay £14.99 for a drugstore foundation, but £7.50 was more reasonable. I’ve seen a lot of hype surrounding this foundation so I’m interested to see if it’s justified but I can’t believe it only contains 13ml as that’s such poor value especially for £15 when other foundations contain 30ml.

My last foundation purchase is the Rimmel Fresher Skin Breathable Natural Finish Foundation in Light Porcelain which I know is my perfect shade. Again this is another raved about foundation right now, and I really wanted to try it as I’ve been favouring a lighter coverage as my skin’s been behaving recently (totally jinxing myself now).

I bought the MUA Peach Amber Lipstick and the Rimmel Kate Rock n Roll Nude Lipstick which are actually pretty similar but what can I say – I love a good peachy nude lipstick shade. Next up I got a trio of Maybelline new releases; the Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter £6.99, Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paint £4.99 and Maybelline 24Hr Color Tattoo in Breathless £4.99 all of which I’m looking forward to trying as I love Maybelline and they rarely disappoint.

I also got the L’Oreal Brow Artist Sculpt £8.99 which is the most weird looking brow product but I’m intrigued to try it as it’s so unlike anything else I’ve tried, although Superdrug sent me the wrong shade so I’m waiting for them to send ‘Brunette’ as this is ‘Blonde’ which is a very warm, reddy toned light brown.

Onto the contouring part of my makeup haul, I bought the Collection Precision Contouring Stick in Light £3.99 which looks like a really good, cool toned shade for contouring and I prefer a stick when it comes to cream contouring so I’m looking forward to trying it.

The last product I bought is the Real Techniques Miracle Sculpting Sponge £5.99 (I also bought the Mini Eraser Sponges but I might not have been able to resist opening those before doing this haul post) which I think is going to be a massive gimmick but the curiosity got the better of me and I decided to give it a try, but I think any blending sponge works for contouring so we’ll see. I have also bought a few more things but I didn’t want to bore you with too many products but please let me know which products you want to see me review first, and I’ll get working on them..

Have you bought any of these products within my makeup haul? Do you have any new product recommendations at all?
