W7 Glowcomotion Highlighter

When I placed my order for W7 Eye Dream Shadow Creams, I also ordered the W7 Glowcomotion Highlighter £3.19 which looked like a potential dupe for theBalm’s Mary Lou-Manizer from the photos I could see online. I didn’t even need to find a dupe for the Mary Lou-Manizer as I already own it but curiosity got the better of me and I didn’t think £3.19 was too bad especially with free delivery.

Just like the Mary Lou-Manizer, W7 describe the Glowcomotion as being a; Shimmer, Highlighter and Eyeshadow and the powder highlighter is packaged within a beige coloured plastic compact which isn’t the prettiest – I think W7 could have chosen a nicer colour for the compact as it doesn’t even reflect the colour of the powder inside. The compact contains a total of 8.5 grams of product which is identical to the weight of the Mary-Lou Manizer too…

The compact contains a mirror within the lid and is quite slim and compact, but the size and depth is again identical to the Mary-Lou Manizer so it’s very clear that is what W7 intended but I’m afraid I don’t think it’s a dupe. I did have a photo comparing a swatch of them both next to eachother but it didn’t transfer onto my laptop but I found a fantastic comparison photo on another blog here which shows how different they are in colour.

TheBalm’s Mary Lou-Manizer is slightly too dark for my skintone and I find Glowcomotion to suit me a lot better which I never expected as it’s actually considerably lighter; a pale gold compared to the slightly warmer tone of Mary Lou. I also find that Glowcomotion is actually a little more subtle, and finer in texture so it sits nicely on the skin whereas I feel that the Mary Lou-Manizer is a little too OTT for my skintone.

So although they are definitely not a dupe, I actually prefer the W7 Glowcomotion Highlighter which is amazing when you consider the W7 highlighter is £3.19 and the Mary Lou highlighter is £17.50 so I think the Glowcomotion highlighter is a great alternative if like me, you’ve found theBalm’s highlighter to be a little OTT but I wouldn’t buy it if you’re hoping for it to be a dupe as it isn’t, but in my opinion it’s a great highlighter in its own right and well worth a look for the price.
