Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit Review / Swatches
Bobbi Brown have a beautiful range of beauty sets this Christmas and the Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit £75 available from House of Fraser is definitely my favourite. The Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit is packaged within a black and gold gift box with an absolutely gorgeous burgundy patent makeup bag. The makeup bag is embossed with the Bobbi Brown logo on the front, and has a pretty gold zip and zip pull, with the bag being lined with a sumptuously soft dark red suedette material with the sides being stitched to stop products from falling out when you open the bag.
The kit includes four products as well as the makeup bag but you could even use the makeup bag as a clutch for any Christmas parties or nights out as it’s such a beautiful bag and suitably festive. The products included within the Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit are a curation of Bobbi’s must-have party makeup pieces for the cheeks, lips and eyes and each of the products within the makeup bag are individually wrapped in black tissue paper which is a nice touch.
The most exciting product within the Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit is most definitely the Bobbi Brown Opal Glow Highlighting Powder worth £34 which is a brand new shade. Bobbi Brown first launched the Highlighting Powders in Pink Glow and Bronze Glow as a limited edition release but due to popular demand, they were made permanent and I’m delighted to see new shades within the range as they’re seriously stunning powders.
The Bobbi Brown Opal Glow Highlighting Powder is packaged within a black, plastic square compact containing a generous 8g of product. The compact features a mirror within the lid and the powder itself has the prettiest of patterns with a raised grid-like design which I was worried about touching incase I ruined it, but the powder isn’t too soft that a brush just ruins the design thankfully. Opal Glow is such a gorgeous shade which is quite hard to describe as it almost has a peachy pink duochrome effect just like a real opal, and it looks quite intense on the skin.
The next item within the kit is the Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara worth £23. I’ve never tried any of the Bobbi Brown Mascaras so I was intrigued to see what this particular one was like, and was impressed with how big the tube is as it contains 12ml of product. Bobbi Brown describe the mascara as being an high-impact and high-drama mascara with a revolutionary jumbo brush fans and pushes lashes up and out, while the rich, carbon-black formula intensely thickens, curls and lifts the look of lashes from root to tip for the ultimate eye opening effect.
The only issue I had is that this is a brand new mascara, but the product is all clumped up on the brush like it’s perhaps six weeks or more old which is a little disappointing as it’s too thick and caked to use. I have used a tissue to gently remove the excess product from the wand but as soon as I dip the brush within the tube, it cakes back up again so I’m assuming the tube wasn’t completely airtight when it was packaged which has left the formula to thicken up. I need to try the eye drop trick where you add 2-3 drops of eye drops to a clumpy mascara to dilute the formula slightly as I’m unable to use it as it is sadly.
Then we have a 7ml tube of the Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss in the shade Crystal which I don’t think you can purchase individually but I really like the compact squeezy tube as you can carry it around in your handbag as because it’s clear, you can get away with applying it without a mirror. I didn’t take a picture of a swatch of the gloss as it looks like a clear gloss as the glitter didn’t pick up in the photo but don’t let the ‘glitter’ name put you off as it’s more of a sparkly shimmer and it’s very subtle but it’s ideal for adding a little shine to any other lip colour you may be wearing such as a matte lipstick which is feeling a little uncomfortable, as the gloss just adds a little dimension and comfort to the lips.
The last product within the Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit is the Bobbi Brown Party Alice Lip Colour worth £21 which Bobbi Brown describe as a ‘lush pink rose’ with full coverage colour and a semi matte finish. Again I’ve tried a few products from Bobbi Brown but never have I tried any of their lipsticks and after trying Party Alice, I really need to try more shades.
From what I can gather, Party Alice is not available to purchase individually but it’s such a stunning yet wearable shade which really is a pink rose with a neutral undertone so I think it would flatter most skintones. The packaging is so luxe, and the formula is so comfortable on the lips and the colour intensity is strong with only a couple of swipes needed for full colour intensity.
I think the Bobbi’s Party Picks Cheek, Lip and Eye Kit is such an amazing giftset which I think any beauty obsessive would be thrilled to receive as it’s so beautifully packaged but it contains some really great, party essentials and I like the idea of gifting this for Christmas so the recipient can wear the products on Christmas day. The products within this kit are all universally flattering so you wouldn’t have to worry about skintones or undertones and it’s such a lovely gift idea as Bobbi Brown is such a luxurious brand.
