Dermalogica Skin Perfecting Kit
Christmas is such a great time for beauty obsessives as beauty brands tend to launch some fantastic beauty sets which work out as such great value compared to the price of purchasing products individually and Dermalogica is one of those brands. Dermalogica have a wide range of beauty gift sets this festive season and I have the Dermalogica Skin Perfecting Kit from the collection which retails for £67.60 (find your nearest retailer on the Dermalogica website) yet if you were to purchase the contents separately, it’d cost you £97.20.
The Dermalogica Skin Perfecting Kit is beautifully packaged within a silver and red metallic box, with an almost metallic bauble design on the front with ‘d’ baubles which is really cute, with a clear lid to show the products inside the kit. The Dermalogica Skin Perfecting Kit contains two full size Dermalogica products which are design to perfect the skin; Dermalogica AGE Smart SkinPerfect Primer 22ml and the Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum 15ml.
Dermalogica AGE Smart SkinPerfect Primer SPF30 worth £38.80
“Prepare your skin for the application of make up with this silky primer. The velvet-textured formula glides on effortlessly, working to brighten and even out redness with a natural, Pearl-powder and mineral-based tint. It provides broad spectrum protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays with SPF 30, while the addition of anti-ageing Peptides and Silicone helps smooth the look of fine lines and imperfections.”
- gives radiant, even skin tone
- provides invisible sun protection
- is a powerful skin treatment for ageing and prematurely ageing skin
This primer has a tinted formula which worried me initially as my skin is so insanely pale that tinted formulas rarely work for me, and when I squeezed the primer from the tube I was taken aback by how very orange it was. The primer has a slimey silicone consistency similar to Benefit’s POREfessional, and it smoothes over the skin easily with very little effort.
The tint is still visible on the skin but if you had skin which was a little darker than mine, the tint would barely be visible but my skin is just so insanely pale that tinted products don’t work very well for me sadly. I can get away with using this primer providing I only use a tiny amount of it and I don’t apply it all over my face as it can leave me looking a little orange, so instead I tend to concentrate on my cheeks and T-Zone where my pores are more prevalent.
The primer is described as being best used by those with mature or prematurely ageing skin which isn’t a category I’d fall in but I can still appreciate how nice this primer is, and how smoothing it is so I’ve gifted it to my mum as her skin is much better suited as she has crows feet and I don’t (yet).
Dermalogica AGE Smart Overnight Repair Serum worth £58.40
“Maximize nighttime skin repair to help minimize fine lines and increase luminosity. Press directly into skin or blend into your moisturizer for dramatic age-fighting benefits: our supercharged peptide serum helps stimulate collagen production to help firm and renew resilience while Argan and Rose oils revitalize lackluster skin and smooth away fine lines. Free of artificial fragrances and colors.”
- Smooth this serum into the skin or blend with your night time treatment cream for dramatic age-fighting benefits.
The serum within the Dermalogica Skin Perfecting Kit is packaged within a glass bottle which you have to tip upside down for a few seconds for the bottle to dispense some of the serum. Dermalogica recommend applying four to six drops of the serum into the skin or mixing with your nighttime treatment cream for dramatic age-fighting benefits. The serum has an oil-like consistency with a floral scent which smells quite strong initially but once I’ve blended the serum into my skin, the scent does dissipate within around ten minutes.
For me this serum is the star product within the set as it makes such a considerable difference to my skin, and my face and neck are left feeling incredible the following morning. Although this product is described as being best used by those with mature skin, I think it would be great for all ages as prevention is definitely better than cure when it comes to ageing and my skin feeling so radiant and smooth whenever I use this treatment serum.
If you’ve ever tried the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate, I would describe the Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum as being a more intensive version of that with more of a radiance boost and I much prefer the scent of this serum too in comparison as the Kiehls Concentrate’s scent lingers for hours.
