The L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick £25.50 range is one of Lancome’s most iconic, and the formula and packaging have recently been reinvented in a bid to be more ‘precious and colourful’ than ever. The Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks are available ina total of 39 different shades, divided into three categories depending on their finish; Cream, Sheer and Matte.
The Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks are formulated with moisture-boosting Pro-Xylane, for hydrated, soft and comforted lips and the lipsticks are officially called the Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Hydrating and Shaping Colour Lipsticks.
The packaging has had a major overhaul, from what was a rather plain black plastic casing, is now a stunningly sleek black metal casing with a gold metal rose on the lid which you have to ‘click’ for the lipstick to slide from the base for application.
I absolutely adore the new packaging, and think it suits the Lancome brand a lot more than the previous packaging and you can’t help but feel extremely fancy when using one of the lipsticks and I love the #ClickTheRose campaign surrounding the launch and I have two shades from the 39 strong lineup..
Not only are the Lancome L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks packaged beautifully, they also look beautiful once removed from the casing with Lancome engraved into the bullet and the lipstick bullet is shaped into a lip contour friendly, curved edge which I much prefer over standard pointier lipstick bullets for more even colour payoff. The two shades I own are; 132 Candice which has a Cream finish, and 367 Bouquet Final which has a Sheer Finish and neither shade has a detectable scent.
Candice 132
This is incredibly pigmented for a red lipstick, with this swatch being just two swipes but I could have got a completely opaque swatch in one swipe like you do on the lips – one swipe lip colour, which is rare for a shade as bold as this. Candice is a super bold and vibrant slightly blue toned red which is such a flattering shade of red for the majority of skintones, especially as it helps to give the appearance of whiter teeth so it’s a real confidence boosting shade.
I think every girl needs a red shade like this within their lipstick arsenal and the intense colour payoff is nothing short of amazing, with no tugging or pulling on the lips and the cream finish means you don’t have to scrub your lips to high heaven prior to application.
Bouquet Final 367
This shade exists within the Lancome Lip Lover range too and from swatches I’ve seen online, the shade is identical to that of the L’Absolu Rouge lipstick range. Bouquet Final is a beautiful fuchsia pink which is super sheer in one swipe if you’re wanting subtle colour, but two or three more swipes will give you the colour intensity of the swatch above.
The formula is just as good as that of Candice, except it feels a little balmier on the lips due to the sheerer finish and it does feel a touch more comfortable but I don’t find Candice to be uncomfortable by any means. I think I prefer the Sheer formula over the cream with shades as bright as this as I find sheerer formulas to be a little more forgiving, but I would love to try some nude shades from the Cream and Matte formulations but for bold shades, I think the Sheerer formula would be my favourite but that’s just down to personal preference.
Which shade would you choose? Candice or Bouquet Final?
