MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection

If you’re a fellow MAC fan, I’m sure you’ll agree that their festive collections are their most highly anticipated releases as they usually have special limited edition packaging making the products even more lustworthy. I really loved the MAC Magic of the Night collection last holiday/Christmas but for me the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection is my favourite festive collection since their Glamour Daze Collection in 2012. The Nutcracker Sweet Collection is described by MAC as;

Leap into a magical land that’s a bit nutty, a little naughty, bursting with whimsy. Lose yourself in an eccentric kingdom of oversized treats and rosy-cheeked nutcrackers. Twist, turn and tumble deeper into the Land of Dolls. Our story has only begun…

The MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection consists of a range of MAC giftsets as well as a range of colour cosmetics, and from the cosmetic collection I have two pieces; the MAC So Good For You Matte Lipstick, and the MAC Prunella Eye Kohl which are both packaged within the pretty limited edition packaging o reflect the hot pink, purple and gold colour theme of the collection. I always love it when MAC do special edition packaging as I find the products a lot more collectable and I like to be able to reflect over past collection’s special packaging within my own collection.

MAC So Good For You Matte Lipstick £17

I am so in love with the packaging of the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection lipsticks, and So Good For You is my favourite shade from the five shade line up. MAC describe So Good For You as an ‘intense cool red’ but in my opinion, it’s very much a pinky toned red and on my naturally pale lips, it looks like a fuchsia pink so I think it will depend on your skintone on whether it will pull red or pink, but either way it’s a beauty.

Some of the MAC Mattes tend to be a touch drying in my opinion, but the formula of this particular shade is really good – this is just one swipe of the lipstick, which I think is amazing for a matte formula. Even though the lipstick is definitely matte, it has a slight sheen to it which I really like and I think it fits in well with the colour scheme of the Nutcracker Sweet collection. I’ve found that the Barry M Fuchsia Lip Liner complements this shade perfectly, and it’s such a pretty and wearable shade.

MAC Prunella Eye Kohl £16

I’ve have only ever tried MAC Smolder Eye Kohl which is one of my favourite black eyeliner pencils, but I don’t know why I’ve never explored the other shades MAC have to offer. The Prunella shade within the Nutcracker Sweet Collection is available as part of their permanent collection too but I love the limited edition packaging. Prunella is described as a ‘shimmering black-eyed plum’ but to me it’s a slightly shimmery purpley brown shade which I find really compliments my green eyes.

The Eye Kohl is creamy and smooth to apply and can be used on the lids and waterline, and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable due to how creamy the formula is – there’s nothing worse than a scratchy eye pencil which makes your eyes water and ruins your makeup entirely. On the days I can’t be bothered with doing very much with my eye makeup, I take Prunella and draw along my upper and lower lashline and take a pencil brush and smudge it slightly for a softer smokey eye in a less than a minute.

I would love to know if you’ve purchased anything from the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday Collection?
