NEW LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder and Banana HD Pro Powder

LA Girl have been on my beauty radar for a good ten months now ever since I discovered their cult favourite Pro Conceal HD Concealer which I still love and use most days. LA Girl recently introduced some new products to their existing lines, as well a few new products and I already featured their new HD Pro Conceal Color Correctors last week.

I have two new additions for you today, both of which are available to purchase from Beauty Chamber here in the UK and they’re both powders.. firstly we have the new LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder and then the LA Girl Banana Pro Powder HD Setting Powder.

NEW LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder and Banana HD Pro Powder

The LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder 5.5 grams £7.99 is available in twelve different shades, and I have the lightest shade which is 120 Watts. The LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder are designed to highlight your facial features by creating depth and dimension where light usually hits to add a fresh glow to highlight cheeks, brighten eyes, sculpt nose, and enhance pout.

The powder can be applied over or under makeup, and is free from parabens and fragrance. I’m so impressed by how many shades there are within the LA Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder range as I’ve never seen an highlighter which caters for so many skintones before, and I love the whole “watt” scale for determining which powder would suit which skintone.

The LA Girl Banana Pro Powder HD Setting Powder 5 grams £5.99 is a shade extension to their existing translucent shade of their HD Setting Powder, which has a subtle yellow tone and is designed to set the foundation and mattify the skin all while correcting redness and neutralizing dark undertones.

LA Girl claim that their Banana shade is universally wearable, with a lightweight finish which can be applied over or under makeup. The powder is packaged within a circular plastic pot, with a plastic sifter and a soft powder puff.

I did two swatches of the Strobelite powder as it’s incredibly pigmented and very easy to go a little OTT; the first swatch is two swipes of my finger on the back of my hand, whilst the second swatch is just one swipe of my finger, and as you can see they’re both pretty intense.

120 Watts is very, very similar to Becca Pearl Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed which I also own and I would even go as far to say that they’re a spot-on dupe and I’ll probably do a post with them side by side so you can see the similarities for yourself but £7.99 or £28?!

The texture isn’t perhaps as smooth as Pearl but the end finish is exactly the same; a beautiful, icy white sheen which can become very intense very easily so I’ve been preferring to use a fan brush for a softer glow as I’m not a fan of the tin man look (on myself) personally. You could also use this shade as blush topper for any blush shade, if you want a matte blush shade to become more luminous or use it as an inner corner highlight as it’s so glowy and intense.

I thought the Banana powder wouldn’t work for my skintone as it’s quite a strong yellow shade, but as you can see from the blended swatch above, it does blend into the skin but it does leave a slight yellow tint behind but I don’t think it would be as noticeable on darker skintones than mine.

The powder has a very silky, smooth consistency which blends into the skin easily and instantly mattifies any shine or tackiness of a concealer or foundation. I have been using this powder to set my undereye corrector or concealer which is does very well but if you have a slightly darker skintone, I think you’d be able to use this powder all over your face to set your foundation without any worries at all.

Have you ever tried any LA Girl products before?
