Glossybox December 2016
December is my absolute favourite month for beauty boxes, as brands tend to really pull out all the stops for a festive edit to delight their subscribers, so I was excited to see what Glossybox had included within their highly coveted ‘Christmas box’. The Glossybox December 2016 is packaged within a pretty, white and gold box with a mistletoe design and white shredded paper with gold Glossybox logos scattered all over the lining of the box.
I really do appreciate it when Glossybox in particular create special designs for their boxes, especially as Birchbox have ditched the box concept for a flimsy drawer which isn’t ideal for reusing as beauty storage like I do with the special Glossybox boxes.
So kicking off the Glossybox December 2016 box we have a full size MDMFlow Lipstick which is worth £18. Subscribers this month were able to choose the colour of their lipstick; Sugar which is a brown toned nude or Vamp which is a deep berry. I got the Vamp shade and it really does remind me of MAC Rebel.
I’ve never tried anything from MDMFlow before, but considering the lipstick retails for £18, I was surprised by how cheap and plasticky the packaging is, and on the back of the lipstick bullet mine has a massive chunk missing which is a little strange and on the website it shows the lipsticks as having MDM engraved into the bullet but there’s nothing on mine which again is a little weird. But alas, I imagine a full size lipstick will please a lot of subscribers especially being able to choose their own shade.
The next item in the box is the Collection Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder in the shade Dark Brunette worth £4.19. There are three shades available within this range, and amazingly I got the darkest shade which is perfect for my naturally dark brows. This is a little tube which has a ball bearing in the bottom which you can shake to mix the powder up, and the tube has a pointed wand which you can apply the powder to the brows with. I’ve never tried anything like this before so I’m looking forward to trying it out.
Then we have a full size Revlon Nail Enamel in the shade Valentine worth £6.49 which is a gorgeous, deep berry shade which complements the berry tone of the lipstick perfectly. The Revlon Polishes are one of my favourite drugstore polish formulas so I was very happy to see one of their polishes within the box, and the shade couldn’t be more appropriate for this time of year.
Then the last products within the Glossybox December 2016 box we have a full size of Lipcote Lipstick Sealer worth £3.69 which is the only product within the box I won’t use as I really find it burns my sensitive lips. It’s a brush on liquid which you layer over your lipcolour to try and prolong the longevity, but it makes my eyes water so I’ll pass it on to someone who will get some use out of it.
The last item in the box is my most favourite and is the Essence Light Up Your Face Luminizer Palette worth £3, and contains three different shades of highlighter; a beige, champagne and rose gold. I love Essence and I can’t believe they’re in this month’s box and this particular palette has been really hard to get hold of, so it’s amazing that it’s included within this month’s lineup and more people will be able to experience Essence for the first time.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the Glossybox December 2016 box? Does five full sized products impress you as much as it does me? Let me know below…
