Clarins are kicking off the new year with the launch of the brand new Clarins Face Contouring Palette and Brush Set £36. The palette is the very first contouring offering from the brand and was designed to create flattering angles to enhance features for a complexion that is luminous with defined contours and sculpted cheekbones. The palette is packaged within a metallic gold plastic compact with a mirror within the lid, and three generously sized face powders alongside a sculpting brush. The palette contains an highlighter shade, a contour shade and a blush shade which have been perfectly tailored to suit all skin tones, with the formula being enriched with plant extracts to nourish the skin, whilst Clarins exclusive Anti-Pollution Complex protects from external aggressors.
The brush within the set has a dark matte brown handle with a golden ferrule, with the bristles being cut into a curved angled shape to fit the contours of the face easily. The bristles within the brush are pretty dense allowing you to both apply and blend the powders into the skin and the bristles feel super soft and silky. I’ve never tried any Clarins brushes before but I really love this brush and would love for Clarins to create more brushes as I can only see that they do a foundation brush and a kabuki type brush currently.
Sometimes when you purchase palettes, the applicator/brushes included can be quite poor in terms of quality but this is a great brush and a brush I’d use with other products within my collection and I like its compact size.
The Highlighter shade within the Clarins Face Contouring Palette is said to create volume, brightens areas to be highlighted and illuminates the face, and can be applied to the browbones, under the eyes and above the top and lower lips. The highlighter shade is a matte warm toned beige which matches my skintone so I can’t use it as an highlighter but I can use it as a setting powder for my concealer or under my eyes to set my concealer when using a fluffy brush, or to set my eyeshadow primer.
The Contour shade is for hollowing, sculpting and reshaping the face by being applied to the forehead, the temples, beneath the cheekbones, the jawline, along the bridge of the nose and on the chin. The shade is quite warm for a contour shade but I still think it works well as it’s not too orange toned but it still works well when applied as a contour with a light hand.
The Blush shade is a gorgeous warm pink with almost a terracotta tone which looks so pretty and natural on the skin, and I think it works well as a blush and bronzer in one. It’s a really gorgeous palette and I love that the shades within the palette work as a full face in one so it’d be ideal for travel or a capsule makeup collection. Sometimes I find that with face palettes like this, there’s usually at least one shade I can’t or won’t use but with this palette all three matte shades work well with a beautiful, blendable texture which all flatter the skin.
