If you read my blog on a regular basis, you might be a little sick of me declaring my love for Vichy but they really are one of my favourite skincare brands with their Normaderm range being my absolute favourite. Vichy have just launched an exciting new product within their Idealia range; the Vichy Idealia Peeling – Radiance Activating Night Peeling Care which I couldn’t wait to try. Vichy launched their bestselling Idealia range in 2013 which was the first skincare range targeted towards transforming and protecting skin which is exposed to stress, smoking or an unbalanced diet and counteracted the effects of modern living on women’s skin.
The Vichy Idealia Peeling 100ml £30 is another skincare first for the brand which is described as having an unique water-light formula with the power of a serum to refine the pores, improve skin’s texture and smooth fine lines in just four weeks. Its gentle peeling action (contains 4% glycolic acid and 5% hepes) acts to create long-term radiance and improve the skin’s quality day by day, with the skin being left softer and looking brighter from the very first application.
The product has been designed to tackle exhausted skin and restore skin’s optimum glow’ the ground breaking formula acts as an antioxidant rich supplement to skin to re-energise and reveal new skin quality. The treatment can be applied to the skin every night under your chosen night cream, and will help to increase the efficacy of your night creams and serum by allowing for deeper penetration of the active ingredients.
Vichy Idealia Peeling Key Natural Extracts
Blueberry Polyphenols – Rich in antioxidant molecules, polyphenols counteract the effects of oxidative stress.
Kombucha Tea Extract – Known as the ‘tea of immorality’ in Ancient China, Kombucha is obtained from black tea through a double fermentation process and works to prevent structural disruptions by its anti-glycation action helping to restore skin quality.
Hepes – An active ingredient that works as an exfoliating agent stimulating the desquamation enzymes found naturally in the skin.
Glycolic Acid – Also works to gently exfoliate the skin to improve the skin’s softness, brightness and luminosity.
Vichy Mineralising Thermal Water – Enriched with 15 minerals and clinically proven to strengthen the skin’s barrier function and help accelerate surface skin cell renewal.
To use the Vichy Idealia Peeling, Vichy recommend applying the liquid to a cotton pad and gently smoothing the pad across the face and neck at night after cleansing, avoiding the eye contour area and following with evening face cream. The consistency is just like any toner, and the bottle has a plastic stopper to control how much product is dispensed which really helps to minimise unnecessary wastage.
I really love the packaging of the Idealia Peeling as it’s packaged within a deep cranberry coloured glass bottle which looks and feels very luxurious and the liquid has a lovely berry scent, although the scent doesn’t linger after application.
I have very sensitive skin which likes to flare up for no reason at all so I’m always a little apprehensive when trying new acid based toners but I wasn’t at all worried prior to trying the Vichy Idealia Peeling as it’s marketed as being suitable for sensitive skin which is pretty rare, as similar products tend to carry a ‘not recommended for sensitive skin’ warning on the bottle.
It’s a very gentle treatment toner which I thoroughly enjoy using, and I do find the exfoliative effects to be quite gentle which ideal for my skin but if your skin is used to stronger acids, you may find this to be a little too mild but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Just because it has a milder formula, doesn’t mean it’s not effective – I personally find it to be very effective and I would even say it’s knocked my favourite acid toner; the Clinique Clarifying Lotion off its top spot as it’s just as effective, but a lot gentler on the skin and it really does improve the efficacy of my other skincare products too.
I must have tried twelve to fifteen different Vichy products now, and I’m yet to be disappointed by anything I’ve tried – they really are a fantastic brand, and I really do recommend the Vichy Idealia Peeling – Radiance Activating Night Peeling Care.
I’d love to know what your favourite Vichy product is, and if you’d like to try the new Idealia Peeling?
