No beauty box post is complete without the typical blogger “where has the year gone” cliché, but I really cannot believe that we’re almost half way through 2017 already and it’s time for the Glossybox May Box 2017, but sure enough; here it is. The theme for the Glossybox May Box 2017 is ‘back to basics‘ with the products within the box being beauty basics everyone needs within their collection. The box also contained a £50 discount for Mockberg which is a luxury watch brand, so it might be a nice addition if you were planning on purchasing a new watch.
The item which was the ‘sneak peek’ within the April box was the Scrub Love Active Charcoal Body Scrub so we all knew it would be within the May box, and the sneak peek item for June is the 111 Skin Bright Eye Lift Gel. This is a charcoal based body exfoliator which is described as being 100% natural, vegan and vegetarian friendly, and contains avocado and aloe vera.
Then we have Ruby Coral Powder Blush which is supposedly a full size product, although from looking at the Ruby website it would appear you can’t purchase this blush individually and the brand offer the mass produced private labelling palettes like Crownbrush, Morphe and OPV Beauty. The price quoted on the card within the Glossybox claims the blush is worth 14.99 Euros however the price for the ten pan blush palette is 14 Euros so this one shade would actually be 1.40 Euros.
The next item is another full size product and is the Dr PawPaw Original Balm worth £6.95. This is a multipurpose balm which can be use on the lips, skin, hair, cuticles and nails and is fragrance free. The balm contains aloe vera, olive oil and pawpaw to nourish and soothe the skin whilst also smoothing flyaway hairs or adding a sheen to the skin.
Then we have a mini 10ml sample of the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet which is a lightweight gel-cream which is rich in powerful antioxidants and patented polyphenols to help calm reactive skin and restore its water reserves to make it more resilient.
The last item in the box and the one I’m most interested in is the Girl Meets Brush Eyeshadow Blending Brush worth £7.95. I always like it when beauty boxes include makeup brushes, especially when they’re great quality and this brush has beautifully soft bristles with the perfect density for blending shadow. I’ve never heard of this brush brand before but this is a really nice brush.
Overall I’m just not wowed by this month’s box. I appreciate the theme is ‘back to basics‘ but the items just didn’t excite me and the only item that did is the blending brush and I think their previous boxes were a lot better than this one. I’m sure I won’t be the only one that feels that way, so I’d like to hear your thoughts below.. what do you think of this lineup?
