When it comes to beauty products, I always gravitate towards anything coconut scented as it’s my absolute favourite scent so when I was instantly intrgiued by the Color Wow Coconut Cocktail Bionic Tonic especially as I’ve never tried an hair tonic before. Color Wow are an award winning haircare brand that pride themselves on being “beauty problem solvers” with a range of styling products, shampoo and conditioners, treatments and root cover up products.
Color Wow have a range of three Cocktail Bionic Tonics which are designed to boost your hair with a Kale Cocktail targeted towards breakage, a Coconut Cocktail for dehydrated hair and a Carb Cocktail for thin and flat hair. The Color Wow Coconut Cocktail Bionic Tonic 200ml £22 is a ‘ground breaking’ leave-in tonic which instantly restores gloss and silky, liquid mobility to dry frizzy hair, and has won multiple beauty awards.
Healthy, virgin hair strands are surrounded by a continuous lipid membrane (made up of a unique molecule, 18-MEA) that locks in moisture and keeps the cuticle smooth and tight, giving hair “slip” suppleness and super shine. When color chemicals destroy this layer, hair loses moisture, becomes dry and straw-like.
Coconut Cocktail bonds a proprietary complex to hair’s surface (made up of 18-MEA and coconut oil) to mimic and replace the lost lipid layer. Hair is instantly glossy and silky and has renewed mobility and bounce plus humidity resistance.
To use the Color Wow Coconut Cocktail Bionic Tonic you simply shake the bottle before use and dispense a coin sized amount into your hand and work through towel dried hair, and comb it through without washing out. The tonic has a thin consistency almost like a serum and I find that I need to use around double the recommended amount as I have long hair but I think I could use even more if I needed to as my hair never feels weighed down.
It has the most amazing, authentic coconut scent and instantly leaves my hair (and hands) feeling super soft and silky. Once I’ve blow dried my hair, I definitely notice that my hair is more tamed with less flyaways and it feels very nourished as if I’ve used an intensive hair mask but I like that I can add it to dry hair too as long as I use it sparingly.
There’s no mention on the packaging that it can be used on dry hair but if I know I’m going to be washing my hair the next morning, I like to add a little extra product to the ends of my hair overnight like a treatment. I like the cocktail ingredient inspired packaging and that the bottle has a stopper to control how much product is used but I really do like it and how soft, smooth and silky it leaves my hair feeling with the bonus of the delicious coconut scent.
