The Lancôme Juicy Shakers were such a successful launch for Lancôme, that they’ve recently launched a new range of matte shakers. The Juicy Shakers are one of my favourite lip product formulas as they’re so comfortable and lightweight on the lips, and they require little maintenance as they fade nicely on the lips. I have five shades of the original juicy formula and I really do love them, especially on warmer days as I don’t have to worry about a lipstick melting in my handbag, so I was really intrigued by the new Lancôme Matte Shaker Liquid Lipsticks. The Juicy Shaker shade range is pretty extensive but there are currently only seven shades to choose from within the Lancôme Matte Shaker range and they are £19.50 each.
“Ready to shake-up the rules of matte? Our innovative new Matte Shaker liquid lipstick formula has an intense colour payoff. The liquid formula turns matte after a few minutes for a beautifully matte result. Matte Shaker leaves behind a gorgeous lip stained look too, for lips that want to stay bold. Choose from seven vivid colours in opaque and highly-pigmented matte lipstick shades that glide on so comfortably you can barely feel them. Thanks to the liquid matte lipstick formula, enriched with silicone oils, you can say goodbye to stickiness and that dry feel and enjoy intense coverage with a lightweight second-skin feel. The water-in-oil emulsion is non-migrating and non-transfer, designed to keep your lips looking luscious. And with a ultra-precise lip cushion applicator, it couldn’t be easier to apply.”
The Lancôme Matte Shaker Liquid Lipsticks have the same cocktail shaker style packaging as the original Juicy Shakers, except the lid is black on the matte versions and the lid is silver on the original Juicy formula. When you unscrew the lid, there’s a pointed cushion applicator and before using the shaker you have to shake the tube to transfer product onto the applicator and the more you shake the tube, the more product transfers onto the sponge allowing you to choose how intense you want the finish.
From the seven shades on offer, I have two; Pink Power (top swatch) and Kiss Me Chérie, with all of the shades within the range being quite bold in colour with Pink Power being the brightest, blue toned pink and Kiss Me Chérie is a pinky toned red. For the Juicy formula I didn’t have any application issues with the large cushioned applicator but I do find that it’s a little trickier with shades as bold as these as it doesn’t offer the best precision so it’s not the kind of product you can just swipe on the lips and go. I recommend using a lipliner before applying the Lancôme Matte Shakers as they do have the tendency to bleed a little, which you can hopefully see in the swatches above, so a lipliner helps to keep everything inside the lip line where it should be.
When you first apply them they look very shiny, but they do turn completely matte within a couple of minutes and they are very pigmented and they leave the lips very stained. Even though they’re packed with pigment, they manage to feel lightweight and comfortable on the lips but they’re definitely not for the colour shy as they are so bold. These swatches alone took hours to remove even with oil based removers and scrubs so you can imagine how long they last on the lips. The colour claims to last all day which I’d have to agree with as the stain lingers on the lips until you remove it but I really wish they had some nude, paler shades as I don’t think I suit such bright, vivid lip colours but I really do love the easy to wear, flattering formula.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of the Lancôme Matte Shakers yet?
