Superdrug are on fire right now with their own brand skincare collections. I am already an huge fan of their Naturally Radiant range, the B. skincare range and Vitamin E skincare range but until now I’d never tried any of their Optimum skincare range. A couple of months ago I was placing a skincare order on the Superdrug website and I spotted the Superdrug Optimum Skin Illuminating Glycolic Overnight Peel £12.99 which was half price at the time and after reading the description I added it to my basket as I love glycolic acid based skincare products. I hadn’t seen any reviews or mentions of the Superdrug Optimum Skin Illuminating Glycolic Overnight Peel so I didn’t really expect to be wowed however this is the best skincare product I’ve ever tried – yes really.
What does it do?!
“This Glycolic Overnight Peel has a light gel-texture, which provides a refreshing skin feel on application and enhances the natural skin tone for a perfectly ideal complexion. With a blend of PhytoCellTec Solar Vitis and Vivillume, infused with a Glycolic Acid Complex, the light-weight formula refines, firms and plumps the skin, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles while helping to improve skin tone for a more radiant, younger-looking complexion.”
How do you use it?!
“Apply a small amount with your fingertips to a freshly cleansed face at night, avoiding the delicate eye and lip area. Leave on overnight and wash off the next morning, following your daily skin care routine.”
The Superdrug Optimum Skin Illuminating Glycolic Overnight Peel is a pale lilac gel which is quite thin and easy to spread across the skin. Sometimes I find that my dry skin absorbs serums and gels instantly so I have to use quite a lot, but that’s not the case with this gel and I tend to apply it to my cheeks, chin, nose and forehead.
It’s such a quick and easy product to apply and I like to apply it as the last product before bed and it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tacky like some overnight masks have the tendency to do. The very first time I applied this gel I noticed a massive difference in the texture of my skin as it normally feels very dry due to dry patches which never disappear fully, but the next morning the texture felt considerably smoother and I didn’t think much of it.
The next night I applied the peel and the same thing happened the following morning and my skin looked so much more radiant and genuinely did look illuminated even though I was completely bare skinned. Not only was my texture improved by just two nights of use, my acne scarring (which usually lasts for a couple of weeks post-blemish) had faded too.
Due to the acid content I don’t use the peel every single night as my skin is very sensitive but I’ve not experienced any tingling, stinging, redness or discomfort since I introduced this treatment into my routine and I honestly believe it’s the best skincare product I’ve ever tried and it’s only £13. I used to have a few blackheads on either side of my nose but now they’re pretty much non existent and my pores look a lot less noticeable which I never expected to happen.
Superdrug always have offers on their Optimum range too making it an even better deal but if I had to recommend just one skincare product to you to try it would 100% be this and I’ve recommended it to so many friends and everyone that’s bought it on my recommendation has loved it too.
It needs so much more hype as I’ve never seen anyone else mention this product but it very recently won a Notebook Anti-Aging Beauty Award which doesn’t surprise me at all and I would wholeheartedly recommend it for skin of any age as it’s absolutely incredible. If you decide to try it please let me know what you think as it’s been such a game changer in my skincare routine.
Have you ever tried the Superdrug Optimum Skin Illuminating Glycolic Overnight Peel before?!
