Trish McEvoy Brand Spotlight Review / Swatches

Trish McEvoy Brand Spotlight

Trish McEvoy is an renowned makeup artist, and Trish founded her makeup brand in the seventies with the ‘makeup has power, inside and out’ principle. Trish McEvoy products are available to purchase from Selfridges and Liberty London, and until recently I’d never tried anything from the brand but I’d read great things about the brand especially from bloggers that are also professional makeup artists.

Trish McEvoy are very well known for their range of unique makeup planners which are described as being a “portable makeup vanity”, allowing you to carry your makeup products on to the go with environmentally friendly refillable Makeup Wardobing Pages. Over the last month or so, I’ve been trialling a selection fo Trish McEvoy makeup products and I really have been wowed by what I’ve tried.

I have the Trish McEvoy Petite Makeup Planner £35 which is a zippable makeup case with a quilted design, which opens to reveal a removable pouch on one side and on the other side there are a number of sleeves which are designed for holding makeup brushes or makeup products. I love the whole makeup planner concept, and being able to carry your essentials within one travel-friendly case which will protect the items inside.

In the middle of the planner there are ring binder like clasps which can hold 3-4 of the Petite Wardrobing Pages. The Makeup Planners allow you to fully customise the products you carry, and there are two other sizes; Medium and Large if the Petite size is a little too small for your makeup needs.

I have one of the Trish McEvoy Petite Wardrobing Pages £13 within my planner which is a black lacquered, slim palette which can be used to hold a combination of the Trish McEvoy eye and face colours. Each of the pages have a clear top so you can see what products/shades are within each ‘page’, and the lids are fully magnetic. There are many options for the products you can choose to put inside your Wardrobing Pages, but in mine I have the Translucent Finishing Powder and the Dual Resort Bronzer.

The Trish McEvoy Translucent Finishing Powder invisibly blurs imperfections while enhancing and prolonging your foundation and face colour. It can be applied over foundation to prep the skin for a seamless application of face colour while re-applied over face colour it blends edges to diffused perfection. It really is very finely milled and completely invisible on the skin, but it does a great job at blurring fine lines and imperfections even when I’m not wearing foundation.

The Trish McEvoy Dual Resort Bronzer contains two shades of bronzer which are each infused with golden shimmer for a radiant resort glow. The shades are described as being universal for all skintones but I do find them to be a little too dark for my super pale skin, but they have a great buildable formula and there are other bronzer shades to choose from if this particular duo isn’t right for your skintone.

Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Lip and Cheek Color

The Beauty Booster Lip and Cheek Color is a chubby, twist up pencil which can be used on both the lips and cheeks. I really do like dual use cream products such as this as it’s so flattering to have matching lips and cheeks, and it’s so easy to apply as you literally just swipe and blend. The pencil is very creamy and soft, and the ‘Perfect Nude’ shade I own really is the perfect peachy beige nude. On the lips it has a subtle sheen, but on the cheeks it has more of a satin finish with a good weartime on both the lips and cheeks.

Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara

The High Volume Mascara is described as being a revolutionary tubular volumizing mascara which forms water-resistant tubes 360° around lashes, which dries instantly and will not smudge or smear. It is said to offer upto 24 hours of wear, and can be removed with just warm water. The brush is relatively thin and narrow which I find does a great job of reaching the base of the lashes.

I’ve never really had the best experience with tubing mascaras but I love this one, and have found it to be godsend during this freak heatwave we’ve been experiencing in the UK. My mascara usually smudges when I’m super hot, but this mascara doesn’t smudge whatsoever but it leaves my lashes looking lengthened and defined.

I can’t get my head around how easy it is to remove, as you literally only need water yet it stays place all day upto 24 hours. I like to use a flannel to remove the mascara but it comes off my lashes in tiny little tubes which makes eye makeup removal so easy, as usually I end up with massive panda eyes when trying to remove my mascara.

Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift

The Instant Eye Lift is a ‘breakthrough long-wearing under eye treatment which brightens darkness and reduces the look of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging and puffiness for the appearance of a dramatically lifted eye. It’s available in two different shades; Shade 1 and Shade 2, and I have Shade 1 which is the lighter original shade. I can’t recall ever using an eye lift product like this as it’s not a concealer nor a corrector. To use it you simply draw a ‘triangle of light’ under each eye with the doefoot applicator and blend with a brush or sponge.

It is relatively well pigmented so it does help to reduce any unwanted darkness, but I do have to use a light hand during application as it’s darker than my skintone. It’s such a quick and easy product to use, but it makes a big difference in making my undereye area look more radiant which is ideal for the mornings when you’ve been lacking sleep.

Trish McEvoy Longwear Brow Mascara

Brow mascaras are one of my favourite products to use as they’re generally fuss free and easy to apply. The Longwear Brow Mascara is available in two shades; Universal Blonde and Universal Brunette, and I have the Universal Brunette shade which is a fantastic cool toned dark brown that suits my brows perfectly.

The brush is very small allowing for a precise application, and the formula features a innovative fiber formula to instantly correct sparseness and add invisible volume for well defined brows. I’d describe the formula as being very similar to Benefit Gimme Brow but I find that the Trish McEvoy Longwear Brow Mascara offers a more intense, longer lasting finish and the tube is considerably bigger with 5ml of product as you only get 3ml with Benefit Gimme Brow.

Trish McEvoy Intense Gel Eyeliner

The Intense Gel Eyeliner is an intensely pigmented, long-wearing gel eyeliner in a pencil format which glides across the skin effortlessly inside or outside the lashlines. The formula is waterproof and oil-free, and the pencil features a sponge tip applicator so you can easily smudge your liner although you have to work quickly after application as the liner does set within around twenty seconds. The shade I have is ‘Black’ which is a beautiful matte black which contains subtle silver sparkle which looks so pretty on the eyes.

I can’t believe how pigmented this liner is – the two swatches above are just single swipes of the liner, and it’s the longest wearing pencil liner I’ve ever tried within my waterline as so many eyeliner pencils fade within an hour of application, but this liner is still visible within my waterlines upto four hours later which I think is amazing.

Trish McEvoy Liquid Lip Colors

Liquid Lipsticks are huge right now and I have to admit, I’m not the biggest fan of matte lips as I just don’t find it to be particularly flattering but I do love the convenience of using a matte lipstick. The Trish McEvoy Liquid Lip Colors are available in three shades; Nude, Mauve and Power Red with a formula that uniquely delivers pigment-rich, full coverage with a light, comfortable feel for a flattering, modern matte look.

These liquid lipsticks have one of the lightest formulas I’ve ever tried as they almost feel mousse-like on the lips, but they are incredibly pigmented and lightweight. I’ve found that the best way to apply them is to initially apply a thin base layer and allow it to dry before finishing with a slightly more generous layer for full opacity without any streakiness or patchiness.

The Nude and Mauve shades are the kind of shades I’d wear on a daily basis as I always gravitate towards nudes, pinks and mauves on a daily basis but Power Red is the kind of neutral toned red you need in your collection incase you ever want a bold, red lip.
