I’m not entirely sure where July went, but Tuesday is the 1st of August which is crazy, and it’s beauty box time again. I have to admit, I wasn’t a massive fan of the July Glossybox but the August Glossybox 2017 definitely makes up for it, with a gorgeous cornflower blue coloured box with “girls just wanna have sun” in gold writing on the lid. I imagine all of the August beauty boxes will have a summer related theme, and the products in this month’s Glossybox are all perfect for summer.
The first item in the box is a full size, and is the Model Launcher Safari Sun Bronzer worth £16.50. I’ve never heard of Model Launcher before, although the name makes me think of models being fired out of a rocker launcher – weird I know. The colour of this bronzer is so strange as it’s very, very yellow.
I’ve never seen such a yellow bronzer before, but I think it would work best for those with warm undertones as I find reddy toned bronzers work best for my cool undertone. The compact is very light as it doesn’t contain a mirror within the lid, and it’s very powdery indeed as the lid and sides of the compact were covered in powder but it’s fab to get a product worth £16.50 in a box which costs £10 a month.
Next up we have a 50ml size of the Batiste 2 in 1 Invisible Dry Shampoo and Conditioner which is a travel size. It’s strange that Glossybox would include this in their box this month as they gave us a full size in the June Glossybox. I really don’t like it when beauty boxes do repeats, especially when it’s the exact same product but it’s an handy product to have for summer, especially in a smaller size for throwing in your beach bag.
Then we have the Valquer Ice Hair Mask Total Repair in a 100ml size. It’s an energizing hair mask with cooling effect that enhances and optimizes the effect of macadamia oil for the most unruly and exigent hair. I love a good hair mask and I’ve never tried a cooling hair mask before, but I can’t think of anything more soothing than a cooling hair mask after a day in the sun, especially if you’ve got a burnt scalp. I’ve not come across this brand before, but I really like the packaging and the scent so fingers crossed it delivers.
The next item in the box is a full size of the SportFX Time Out Face Mist + Fix worth £5.99 which contains 30ml. We were introduced to SportFX in the April Glossybox, when we got a makeup brush and this is a facial spray which claims to be refreshing and soothing, as well as controlling oil and contains menthol essence which has a cooling effect. I can’t get enough of facial sprays, especially during the summer so I always like trying new sprays and again this is an handy size for travel, or for carrying in your handbag or beach bag.
We have another full size product this month in the Glossybox August 2017 box; the Rodial Suede Lips in the shade Big Apple worth £22. It’s a matte, moisturising lip pencil containing hydrating vitamin E and Big Apple is described as a soft berry shade. Rodial was another brand which featured in the Glossybox April box, so there’s definitely a lot of repeats this month which won’t please everyone. Rodial aren’t a bad brand, and everyone loves matte lips right now so I think everyone will like this lip pencil.
The last item in the Glossybox August 2017 box is an extra, and is a Purelei Aloha Hairband in a baby blue colour with gold writing. I only use these stretch elastic hairbands on my hair as they’re so gentle on the scalp, and they don’t leave pesky bumps once you remove them. I’ve never used any Purelei bands before, but it’s super stretchy so I might buy more if it lasts well, as sometimes they can become over stretched, so fingers crossed it lasts as it’s so cute.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the August Glossybox 2017? Do you agree it’s a great box, too?
