Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum

Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum

I really love the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire fragrance, but I’ve never tried any other Guerlain fragrances and I don’t really know why. I think it could be that the Guerlain counters are so makeup centric that their fragrances are often forgotten but when I read about the new Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum, I knew it was my kinda scent and one I needed within my collection.

The Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum 50ml £61.20 launched back in March with Angelina Jolie  as the ‘face’ of Mon Guerlain, and the promotional imagery is so simple yet so stunning (here) with Jacques Guerlain saying “we create perfumes for the women we admire”.

Sometimes when brands choose a public figure to front their fragrance campaign, it can be hard to believe that they’d wear the particular fragrance but I really do imagine Angelina Jolie loving Mon Guerlain as it’s such a classic, feminine fragrance.

The quadrilobe bottle is designed to resemble an alchemist’s bottle, and owes its name to its stopper which is crafted from one piece to obtain a shape resembling four lobes. The bottle is relatively simple compared to Guerlain’s over bottle designs but I like how classic it looks with a golden metallic ribbon around the neck of the bottle.

The fresh oriental composition of Mon Guerlain is crafted from the vibrancy of Provencal Carla Lavender, joined by the enveloping sensuousness of Vanilla Tahitensis from Papua New Guinea. Sambac Jasmine, picked at sunrise in India, sews the fragrance together with a thread of finesse, before Australian Album Sandalwood expresses the resolute strength of all women.

The most dominant note is most definitely the lavender which I wasn’t too sure on initially, but the vanilla makes it a little sweeter and warmer. It’s not as overpowering as perhaps La Petite Robe Noire which boasts considerable silage, so it’s better suited for everyday wear whereas I find La Petite Robe Noir to be best for evening wear.

I don’t find the Guerlain Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum to be very long wearing on my skin which might be down to the very high temperatures we’ve been experiencing in the UK but I find it disappears within 2-3 hours which isn’t ideal for such a luxurious brand but I do find my fragrance fades faster in the Summer months. I think this fragrance would be a good option for those you want to buy a perfume for, but you’re unsure on their favourite notes as it’s so likeable.
