I was lucky enough to be invited to be a member of the #ElfBeautySquad, and every month I receive a selection of e.l.f products to try. I was recently sent the ELF Beauty Shield Skin Shielding Moisturiser which instantly intrigued me with its holographic box and impressive claims.
The ELF Beauty Shield Skin Shielding Moisturiser is currently available on the US and UK e.l.f websites and retails for £14.50 and is part of their brand new Beauty Shield collection. The Beauty Shield collection currently consists of seven different products and is an advanced skincare line designed to protect skin from environmental aggressors and sun damage.
“This skin shielding moisturizer provides a sheer, universal tint. Formulated with broad spectrum UVA/UVB (SPF 50), carrot seed oil, sunflower seed oil, and vitamin C that protects the skin against everyday environmental aggressors. Formulated Without Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, and Alcohol.”
The ELF Beauty Shield Skin Shielding Moisturiser (here) is packaged within a pearlescent bottle with a pump. I was really intrigued by this moisturiser as it has such an high SPF for a budget friendly skincare product, and e.l.f recommend applying it to clean, dry skin.
The moisturiser claims to have an ‘universal tint’, but I really do wish it didn’t contain any tint as it’s pretty dark for my pale skin and it’s the type of product you have to apply liberally to ensure you’re fully protected. I’m not sure how it’d work for deeper skintones, but sadly I don’t think it’s a ‘universal’ tint.
To combat the darkness, I’ve been mixing it with my NYX White Foundation Mixer but I’d love for e.l.f. to create a clear version which I could apply without worrying about blending it onto my neck and chest so there aren’t any obvious tidemarks.
If however you have a deeper skintone than mine, it should work nicely as a tinted moisturiser for the days you don’t want to wear foundation. The moisturiser has a strong sunscreen scent which does linger on the skin for the duration you’re wearing the moisturiser, which doesn’t bother me too much but it is quite a strong scent.
Not only does it tint the skin, and offer UVA and UVB protection, it really does soften the skin and leave behind a very dewy finish which I like for my no makeup days. Although I don’t love the tint for my skintone, it’s still a fantastic product for the price considering the SPF50 and I now really want to try other products from the Beauty Shield collection.
Have you tried any of the e.l.f. Beauty Shield products?
