NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

I have a real love for NARS base products. The NARS Radiant Cream Compact Foundation is my most repurchased highend foundation, and I’ve featured a number of the NARS base products here on my blog such as the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation. The NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer launched in January and I’ve read nothing but rave reviews so curiosity got the better of me, and I had to buy it as I’ve had such such great results from all of the NARS base products I’ve tried. The NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer is £23, contains 6.5g of product and is available in a total of 16 different shades. I bought the palest shade; Chantilly as it’s the shade I use in the NARS Radiant Creamy  Concealer and NARS describe Chantilly as being an ‘ivory shade for the fairest of complexions’.

The Soft Matte Concealer is packaged within a small, clear plastic pot with a black rubberised plastic lid. I did take a bit of a punt when buying the concealer as I hadn’t read any reviews of how it would work with dry skin, but I figured I could always layer it over a super rich moisturiser to combat dryness if there was an issue.

I have to admit, I’ve not had the best of luck with pot concealers as they do tend to be on the dry and chalky side, but I did used to like theBalm’s timeBalm Concealer until it became too dry to use anymore. The lid on this pot does close very tightly which I really appreciate as it should keep the concealer air tight.

Consistency wise, the concealer is indeed very creamy and soft for a pot concealer. It doesn’t feel at all dry or chalky, and I find that I can apply it to my skin directly from the pot without having to warm it up prior to application.

NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer

Whenever I’ve used cream pot concealers in the past, I’ve had to warm it up between my fingertips before applying it to my skin but I can apply the NARS Soft Matte Concealer directly to my skin without any skin preparation beforehand. I can use it under my eyes to help concealer any darkness but for me this concealer is best used to cover blemishes and other skin imperfections as it’s a fuller coverage concealer.

For my under-eye area, I personally prefer to use the Bobbi Brown Corrector initially to neutralise any discolouration and then follow with a liquid concealer such as the Makeup Forver Ultra HD Concealer, the Essence Full Coverage Concealer or the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer. I think this would be my go-to concealer if I was going away as it’s an all round concealer, and I really do like the formula and how long lasting it is.

The only downside is the ‘Chantilly’ is very yellow on my skintone, and therefore looks a touch too dark for my super pale skin however the next shade up; Mont Blanc is even darker so Chantilly is the best match possible. I wish NARS could introduce a shade between Chantilly which is warm toned, and Mont Blanc which is cool toned which could perhaps be more neutral as I think that would suit me a lot better but until then I’ll have to make Chantilly work for me as I like the formula so much.

I would love to know if you’ve tried the NARS Soft Matte Concealer yet?
