ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils Review / Swatches

ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils

ELF Launching into Superdrug here in the UK has to be my favourite beauty news this year so far as it’s amazing to be able to stock up on ELF products instore and online without worrying about paying customs fees. I’ve been trialing the ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils since I got my hands on them in the beginning the August. I’ve never seen the ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils before but from what I can gather, they’ve been available in the US for a pretty long time and they’re a bargainous $1/77 pence each.

“Instantly brighten eyes with e.l.f. Cosmetics shimmering metallic liners that put the spotlight on eyes. The smooth formulation glides on effortlessly without tugging at the delicate eye area. Choose from an assortment of vibrant shades designed to add depth, definition and a special sparkle to create a very glamorous look! Pencil includes a convenient sharpener cap for easy use!”

I have three shades of the ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencils; Iconic Ivory (a shimmery white), Black Bandit (a matte black with silver sparkle) and Twinkle Teal (a shimmery emerald green). I have to be honest, I really didn’t expect very much from a $1 eyeliner pencil as I didn’t enjoy the MUA or Makeup Revolution £1 eyeliner pencils, but it’s amazing that each shade comes with a super handy sharpener within the lid.

They are wooden eyeliner pencils so the nibs are a little firm so I wouldn’t use them within my waterline as my eyes water very easily, but they’re not too firm that they scratch the eyelid or tug the skin. If you were worried about the nibs being too firm, you could do the old school hairdryer trick for a couple of seconds to warm the pencil prior to application but I find them to be perfectly fine for lining the upper lid, or smudging along the lower lashline.

They might not be the best eyeliner formula I’ve tried, but they are better than the MUA and Makeup Revolution eyeliner pencils I’ve tried and they’re only $1/77 pence each which is amazing, especially if you’re wanting to experiment with colour and don’t want to spend a fortune incase you don’t like it.

I really like that the three shades that I own have two shimmer options and a glitter option, and it’s hard to find a sparkly eyeliner pencil where the sparkle actually transfers to the skin but you really can see the Black Bandit’s sparkle which is pretty fab considering how affordable the pencils are.

Have you tried any of the ELF Eyeliner pencils before?
