Charlotte Tilbury products are always packaged so decadently with the trademark maroon and rose gold packaging. I don’t know any beauty obsessive that wouldn’t be delighted to receive a Charlotte Tilbury gift this Christmas, and the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set £55 would make any beauty lover very, very happy. The packaging is truly stunning with a large maroon gift box with rose gold foil detailing all over, which opens to reveal the products on a flocked insert which looks and feels so luxurious. Christmas gift sets always excite me as they’re typically great value compared to buying full sized products and they allow you to try multiple products and shades in generously sized miniatures which is always handy if you’re new to a brand.
The Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set is such an amazing set as it contains a selection of their bestselling, award winning products. Sometimes brands use new shades specifically for their gift sets, but with this set you know everything is a winner and it introduces the recipient (or yourself 😉 )to both the Charlotte Tilbury skincare and makeup ranges. Again sometimes gift sets have mini sizes but the sizes of everything in this set are very generous and there’s even a full sized product which has been on my beauty wishlist for such a long time…
The first product within the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set is a 15ml size of the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream worth £21 (full size is 50ml and £70) and I’ve featured the Magic Cream previously on my blog as part of the Charlotte Tilbury The Gift of Red Carpet Skin Set. The Magic Cream is the most talked about product within the Charlotte Tilbury skincare range and features Charlotte’s most coveted secret formula adored backstage by models and celebrities.
• Unique ‘multi-tasking’ anti-age BioNymph Peptide Complex stimulates collagen production while fighting free radicals.
• This multi-tasking treat & transform moisturiser features a secret blend of patented ingredients to give you plump gorgeous skin every day.
• SPF15 and an anti-UVA filter protects your skin from the sun’s ageing effects.
• Hyaluronic acid and wild pansy extracts seal-in moisture so your skin feels renewed and rejuvenated.
• Rosehip and camellia oils and antioxidant vitamin E transforms dull complexions so you can get hydrated, youthful skin.
• Perfect if you want to cheat the appearance of 8 hours sleep for glowing skin in a flash.
It’s one of the richest moisturisers I’ve ever used so I don’t think it would work for super oily skin as it may be a little too heavy. It is however ideal for my dry and dehydrated skin, and I sometimes like to apply a more generous layer in the evenings and wear it overnight like a sleeping mask. 15ml might not sound like very much for a moisturiser but my last 15ml size lasted for a good few weeks which is more than enough time to be able to fully try it out. I really want to try the Magic Eye Cream next if this face version is anything to go by, it’s almost as if it’s like a body butter for the face – it’s so good.
Next up is an adorable lipstick charm like those in the Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick Charms, with the same rose gold metallic packaging with tiny little stars all over the lid. Within the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set you get a miniature size of the Penelope Pink K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick (1g size) worth £6.85. Penelope Pink is described as being a nude pink with pink undertones and it’s just the prettiest nude, especially for pale skintones. I have pale pink lips and I find that Penelope Pink pulls a little warmer on me, and looks more of a light beigey toned nude but it’s incredibly flattering nonetheless as it’s not too pale that it gives a concealer lip effect. I already love the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks so I’m very happy to have a new shade to add to my collection, and I like that they’ve included an universally flattering nude for the set.
The next product is another I’ve tried previously (here); a 15ml size of the Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Instant Soft-Focus Beauty Flash worth £14.43 which is an award winning, light-reflecting primer. It can be used under foundation or worn on its own on your ‘no makeup’ makeup days and contains state of the art fluorescent core light diffusers which absorb UV particles from the sun and reemits their energy as visible light, illuminating your skin. Soft focus ceramic microspheres smooth over wrinkles and imperfect skin tone, creating an anti-ageing optical illusion for a flawless, poreless complexion whilst anti-aging BioNymph Peptide Complex stimulates collagen to promote elasticity in your skin.
The Wonder Glow has the consistency and appearance of a peach coloured moisturiser which absorbs instantly into the skin, and has a very subtle rose scent. Once you’ve massaged the cream into the skin, it leaves behind lots of micro shimmer particles which are only noticeable under direct artificial light. In daylight the skin just looks luminous but you can only see the shimmer if you look up close, but it’s not something I’d wear alone due to the shimmer so I prefer to use it under my foundation for when I want my skin to look more radiant. If you have really good skin I imagine this would be lovely to give a soft focus, illuminated effect for the skin.
The next product within the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set is a 3ml sample size of the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara worth £8.62. I can’t believe I’ve never tried a Charlotte Tilbury mascara before, nor have I tried their brow products. The Full Fat Lashes Mascara is a best-selling, award-winning mascara which claims to give curl, separation, volume, length and drama. The brush has natural bristles which Charlotte calls a “5-grooved brush” which deposits the optimal line of mascara along the lash line, pushing your lashes up and out. The fine tipped bristles are designed to catch every lash, no matter how short or fine, coating them from root to tip in the glossy black formula.
I can’t recall ever using a mascara which is described as being ‘glossy’ before and I wasn’t sure if I’d like my lashes to look glossy, but I don’t find they look glossy as such. It’s a brilliant mascara and I love how many bristles there are on the brush as you can really wiggle it through your lashes from the base to the tip. I much prefer natural bristled wands as they’re more flexible than the plastic bristles as my lashes are so short, I always catch my eyelid or eyeball with the more rigid plastic bristles. It doesn’t smudge, flake or transfer and it really reminds me of the YSL False Lash Effect Mascara so if you like that mascara, you really need to try this too.
The last product within the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set is a full size of the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Lip Liner worth £16 and is another award winner. I’ve had the Pillow Talk liner on my beauty wishlist for such a long time as it looked like the perfect pinky nude shade. The Lip Cheat formula lasts upto 6 hours with no smudging, and is waterproof without feathering or transferring. Pillow Talk is almost identical to my natural lip colour and works amazingly well with almost any nude or light pink lip colours. I totally understand why this liner is such a cult favourite and why Charlotte decided to launch a matching Pillow Talk lipstick as it’s a beauty, and it’s so easy to use under lipsticks or worn alone. I love that Penelope Pink and Pillow Talk work beautifully together for a pretty, everyday pinky nude lip duo.
Overall the contents of the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Icons Gift Set really are fantastic and I appreciate that there’s both skincare and makeup within the set. The lip colours are both very wearable, and the mascara is always going to be appreciated so this Charlotte Tilbury gift will be amazing for existing Charlotte Tilbury fans or those that are completely new to the brand.
