I have to admit, I didn’t love the Glossybox December 2017 edit this year so I was interested to see which products Birchbox had chosen for their December box as their December 2016 really was one of the best beauty boxes they’ve ever done. The Birchbox December 2017 is a collaboration box with Matthew Williamson, and the box design is amazing with a floral pattern as well as jewelled roses, humming birds and lizards. I love the metallic red finish to the box and it’s definitely one I’ll reuse as it’s just too pretty to put into the recycling bin. Let’s see which products are inside the Birchbox December 2017 box…
The star product within the Birchbox December 2017 box for me has to be the Spectrum Collections B04 Angled Blender Brush worth £5.99. I love it when we get makeup brushes within our boxes, especially if it’s a Spectrum brush as they’re always brilliant brushes. This brush is from the Spectrum You Look Marbelous Collection and it s a nice, slightly angled blending brush which feels super soft and has a pretty rose gold ferrule.
Next up is the LOC Vibrant Matte Lipstick in the shade Color Me Confident worth £6.50. LOC (Love of Color) is a Birchbox brand and they’ve given us both the lipstick and eyeshadow crayons in past boxes. This is a bold neutral red shade which will be ideal for a statement Christmas red, and I’ve seen Birchbox subscribers comment on the Birchbox Instagram page raving about the staying power of this lipstick, so it sounds like a great longlasting formula.
The next item is a little bit stingy as it’s only a 10ml moisturer sample and I think they could have perhaps given us a slightly larger size for a moisturiser, but alas it’s a 10ml sample of the Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser worth £1.97 (N+F have lowered the full size price to £8.97). This is described as containing a superfood blend of kale, watercress, aloe vera and almond oil to calm the skin whilst delivering a healthy burst of vitamins and moisture. Although it’s a very small size, it would be good for your makeup bag if you need a moisture boost on the go.
I am always happy to see Rituals feature within beauty boxes as they’re such a lovely brand. I got a 50ml size of the Rituals The Ritual Ayurveda Foaming Shower Gel worth £4.50. If you’ve never tried one of their foaming shower gels, you really need to as they’re fabulous. I like to squirt a little onto a shower puff and it creates masses of silky foam which cleanses the skin thoroughly whilst also gently exfoliating the skin. I can’t wait to try this set as it’s infused with soothing sweet almond oil and fragrant Indian rose.
The product which is the most underwhelming for me has to be the 40ml sample of the Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo worth £2.39 as it’s a product which has featured in many beauty boxes over the last couple of years and again it’s not the biggest sample for a shampoo. It’s an handy product to own within your stash though as it’s a clarifying shampoo which will deep cleanse and rejuvenate the hair which is exactly what some of us need in the festive season with using more styling products than normal.
I’d love to know what you think of this month’s Birchbox? Which is your favourite product?
