I really am not very adventurous when it comes to makeup. I love makeup and have a ridiculous makeup collection but I’m just not very good at trying crazy colours or embracing bold trends. As part of Essence’s Autumn and Winter 2017 collection, they introduced three different lip art palettes which are £3.50 each from Wilko. The Essence Lips Go Wow Lip Art Palette have cream to powder textures and matte finishes which can be used individually, on top of lipstick or mixed together. The packaging is simple but sleek, with a clear lid and I have the 01 Show ‘Em Your Style Palette which contains pinks and mauve shades.
Although the Essence Lips Go Wow Lip Art Palette is marketed as being a lipstick art palette, it’s basically just a lipstick palette which you can obviously use for lip art should you wish to. The three palettes all contain wearable pinks, mauves, berries and nudes so they’re not the kind of shades you’d typically see inside a lip art palette, such as the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette.
This palette contains a shimmery mauve, a fuschia pink, a purple and a deep berry but they all considerably more muted than the shades within the palette which could be a positive or negative depending on how bold you like your lip colours.
The four shades are more balms than lipsticks and they all feel comfortable on the lips, but I don’t think they’re bold enough to be able to use them as lip art shades. The first shimmery mauve shade can be used as a lipstick topper whereas the other three shades are matte. I have to admit this isn’t the best lip palette as the shades aren’t intensely pigmented and they all need building up, so it’s not the kind of palette to buy if you like your lip colours to be super pigmented and bold.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried a lipstick palette before? Do you like the Essence Lips Go Wow Lip Art Palette?
