I’ve really enjoyed trying Pixi beauty this year, with their Glow-y Powder Highlighters being one of my most worn highlighters this year. Pixi really do, do the prettiest packaging and PR campaigns and this stunning presentation box has to be their prettiest yet and it looks like it should be on display. I wish Pixi would offer their PR presentations as purchasable items like ColourPop do, as I imagine many would love to get their hands on this beautiful lockable box. Inside the box is the brand new range of five new Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips which are £16 each, as well as the new Pixi Rose Flash Balm £26 and Pixi Rose Caviar Essence £26, which are all within the Pixi ‘What’s New‘ section on their website.
Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips
I’ve only ever tried a couple of the Pixi lip products so I was really excited about this range of matte liquid lipsticks after seeing they’re a Cosmopolitan Beauty Award 2017 winner. They’re described as being a longwearing, highly pigmented lip colour which also delivers instant hydration to the lips. The formula is non-transferable and non-drying, with lips being left feeling comfortable and hydrated thanks to the infusion of rosehip and vitamin E. The applicator is a ‘Pixi Petal’ which has been designed to evenly distribute colour onto the lips, whilst the pointed tip allows you to outline the lips precisely. For application, a thin and light layer is recommended and allowing it to completely dry down. There’s an handy video on the Pixi website which shows you can even use these lip colours as a cream blush by quickly blending them into the cheeks for a fresh burst of colour.
Au Naturelle: a peachy pink nude.
Matte Beige: a warm toned nude.
Pastel Petal: a pinky brown nude.
Really Rose: a rosy toned nude.
Evening Rose: a deeper berry toned nude.
The five shades are all variations of nudes and pinks and they really are very universally flattering, and each of these swatches are just one single swipe of the applicator. Many brands claim that their liquid lipstick’s offer full opacity in one stroke, but these genuinely do and even though they’re very saturated with pigment, the formula is so lightweight and thin. I didn’t wait around to photograph the dry down swatches as they really are longwearing, and stain the lips/skin so if you’re on the hunt for a longwearing, comfortable, non-drying beautiful liquid lipstick, the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips are definitely a formula I’d recommend trying.
Pixi Rose Flash Balm
This is a 3-in-1 oil free balm which moisturises and brightens, and can be used as a revitalising mask as well as a primer to prep the skin prior to makeup application. It’s suitable for all skin types, and can be used both AM and PM. It can be used to seal moisture into the skin, and when using as an hydrating primer you simply apply a coin sized amount to the skin in a thin layer, and for use as a soothing, revitalising and hydrating facial mask you simply apply a more generous layer and leave for 10-15 minutes. The Pixi Rose Flash Balm is infused with rose water which is rich in antioxidants and helps to balance PH levels. Rose extract calms any redness and soothes the skin, olive leaf extract; a soothing super food, leaves the skin feeling nourished, and it’s a great product to have within your collection as it has so many uses.
Pixi Rose Caviar Essence
The Pixi Rose Caviar Essence is encapsulated with flower oils which are suspended within weightless serum-essence melt onto the skin delivering fresh botanicals to hydrate and restore the skin’s brightness for optimum radiance. It is formulated with antioxidant rich natural oils to refine, tone and soften the skin and is suitable for all skin types. Within the concentrated essence there is Ylang Ylang, Damascus Rose and Rose Geranium to impart radiance and hydration to the skin. The essence is to be used after cleansing and toning as your first dose of moisture, and it really does feel like a watery gel based serum which absorbs instantly and I like to follow with my serum and moisturiser of choice.
