For the Birchbox January 2018, Birchbox have collaborated with Ohh Deer a British stationery brand for a limited edition flamingo box design with a set of stickers which are really cute. I love the flamingo design and every box this month will receive a Lord and Berry Blush Crayon in one of two shades, and the theme for the box is all about about bracing our individuality which ties in nicely with the whole flamingo design. Contents wise I’m just not wowed this month but let’s have a run down of what was inside my Birchbox January 2018 box.
Afterspa Amazing Makeup Remover
This is a little microfiber mitt which claims to remove makeup with just water, without needing any makeup remover. This is not a full size, this is just a tiny sample of the full size which is £5.50 to purchase in the Birchbox shop. I’ve tried a few of these cloths and I really like how effective they are, but I’ll probably keep this mini size for removing swatches when doing blog photos as it’s not big enough for removing a full face of makeup.
Paul and Joe Moisturising Foundation Primer
I have never tried anything from Paul and Joe before so I’m pleased to see them feature within this box. This is a tiny sample but I’m still looking forward to trying it as I love trying new primers. This claims to be a luxurious primer which is enriched with botanical extracts and a subtle gold shimmer to impart a subtle glow to the skin. I really wish this had been a more generous sample as it won’t go very far at all.
Thermaliv Night Cream
This is another small sample and is a night cream containing sea chamomile to boost collagen production and vitamin E to soothe, plump and nourish the skin. I’ve never heard of this brand before but I sometimes like using night creams as day creams as they tend to be a lot richer which is exactly what my super dry skin needs. It’s only 15ml which is very small for a skincare product.
Lord & Berry Blusher Crayon
There are two shades up for grabs this month and I got the Peach shade which is a really pretty shade. This is the only full size product within the box this month but it’s a good one as it’s super creamy and easy to apply and blend. Lord & Berry are a beauty box staple which I don’t love however this is a brand new product from the brand so there’s no chance of any repeats and both of the shades are super wearable.
Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner
This is the last item within the Birchbox January 2018 box and is a 0.8g sample size. It is in the shade Charcoal which is a glittery grey shade which claims to be waterproof and smudgeproof. I’m not too happy about this product featuring within the box as they featured the very same product within the Birchbox August 2016 box in a different shade, so I think they should have chosen another product to include.
Overall this isn’t Birchbox’s best box in terms of repeats and product value, and I feel like Birchbox are including smaller sizes as time goes on. I hope boxes improve as the year goes on, and more full sized products begin to appear.
