Mane ‘n Tail is a cult US haircare brand which was specifically targeted for show horses with long flowing manes and tails, and horse owners began using the products on their own hair after being so wowed with the results on their horses hair. I tried the brand for the first time back in July of last year with the Mane ‘n Tail Detangler and I’ve been using it ever since so I was definitely up for trying the Mane ‘n Tail Hair Strengthener Daily Leave In Conditioning Treatment £11.99 as I use a leave in conditioner everytime I wash my hair.
What is the Mane ‘n Tail Hair Strengthener?!
It’s described as being a daily protective and fortifying leave in treatment for stronger, healthier hair. It works to nourish and repair the hair, with essential protection to help prevent breakage and split ends. It protects hair strands from heat and chemical styling, provides additional moisturising and conditioning protection with an alcohol-free formula which is also suitable for all hair types. You can use the spray on both damp or dry hair, and the amount of product needed will vary depending on the length and thickness of the hair. Once you spray onto the hair, you simply massage it in and then comb/brush throughout the hair and style as normal.
I know I’m going to sound really strange but I think the Mane ‘n Tail Hair Strengthener smells like Apple Sourz which I personally really love. I don’t know if has an intentional apple scent, but that’s what it smells like to me but the scent doesn’t linger in the hair. The liquid within the bottle looks like water but it’s a little thicker when you move the bottle, and I’d recommend using it sparingly. As the consistency was so similar to water I applied it liberally the very first time I used it and I had to rewash my hair as it was so overloaded so definitely adopt the less is more approach.
I don’t notice that this spray offers any detangling benefits at all but in its defence, it doesn’t claim to but I do generally prefer to use a detangling leave in conditioner as my hair is so fine and prone to knots. As I have to use a detangler as I simply won’t be able to get my brush through my hair so I prefer to use a detangling spray first and then apply the Mane ‘n Tail Hair Strengthener once my hair has been brushed through but I have to use roughly three spritzes in total to ensure I don’t weigh my hair down.
I really like that my hair is given additional protection when using this leave in spray, and I love how healthy and soft my hair feels after using it. My hair grows insanely fast so I can’t comment on any hair growth benefits as my hair grows fast regardless of what I use. I can however imagine it would help with growth as it’s nourishing and protective on the hair, and as you massage it into your hair and the scalp. Whilst it wasn’t a revolutionary haircare product for me, I still enjoy using it everytime I wash my hair and I’m all for a product which offers protection and nourishment to keep my hair as healthy as possible.
I would really like to know if you’ve tried any of the Mane ‘n Tail haircare collection?
