Maybelline Super Stay Matte Inks

I have to admit I’m over the whole matte liquid lipstick trend but I know the majority are still loving the longevity and low maintenance which comes with wearing a matte liquid lipstick. Every brand now has their own liquid lipstick formula, and they all pretty much guarantee longlasting colour but let me tell you, nothing compares to the longevity of the new Maybelline Super Stay Matte Inks.

I say they’re new, they launched last summer but Maybelline recently extended their shade range to an impressive eighteen shades here in the UK but there’s bound to be even more shades over in the US as they always have better Maybelline shade and product ranges. The Maybelline Super Stay Matte Inks are £9.99 each which is quite pricey for a drugstore lip product, but I actually think they’re very much worthy of their slightly elevated price tag as they will last from dawn until dusk on the lips and there aren’t many lip products which can do the same.

“Ink with Attitude.  Maybelline introduces SuperStay Matte Ink, an intense ink colour concentration, ultra-chic matte finish and flawless, 12 hour wear. With a precise arrow applicator for a smooth matte, second-skin effect in just one stroke. Statement, inked lips that last.“

I have four of the original shades; Loyalist, Romantic, Creator and Voyager but I would love to get my hands on some of the new nude collection. The packaging is very sleek and I don’t think they look like a budget lip product with their colour coded slightly rubberised plastic base, and white plastic lid.

You can easily tell the shades apart and they represent the shade inside quite well which is always handy if you own multiple shades and the applicator is an ‘arrow shape’. I have a huge piece of advice and that would be; do not swatch these instore, as they stain seriously bad and you’re going to be left with the stains for hours and hours. If you have to swatch them, I’d really recommend swatching them on your inner wrist so the stains aren’t too noticeable – I have never found a lip product which stains as much as these do.

Loyalist: a warm toned nude.

Romantic: a bright fuchsia pink.

Creator: a bright pinky toned purple.

Voyager: a deep berry.

Although the arrow shaped applicator is more precise than most liquid lipstick doefoot applicators, I personally prefer to use a lip brush as they stain instantly and I don’t have the steadiest hands so I prefer the extra precision I get when using a lip brush especially when doing my lip line.

I don’t detect a noticeable scent or taste with them, and they really do feel like a ‘second skin’ like the claims, as they’re amazingly lightweight and thin in terms of consistency and you can’t feel them once on the lips providing you don’t over apply. I personally prefer a sheerer lip product, but if you like a matte longlasting lip these are very much worth a try if you can find a shade you like.

I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Inks?
