When Anastasia Beverly Hills launched their Modern Renaissance Palette it was such a massive success and remains as one of their bestselling products. They followed up with palettes such as the Subculture and the Prism Palettes but they didn’t tempt as I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to eye makeup. I used to own the ABH Modern Renaissance Palette but I passed it onto a friend as I couldn’t think of ways to use the eyeshadows but now after falling in love with their newest palette; the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette I am truly kicking myself as the ABH eyeshadow formula is just incredible. I’ve seen so much buzz surrounding the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette £43 and I couldn’t wait to add it to my collection as I knew I’d use every single shade as I love neutral shadow shades, and I got mine from Cult Beauty.
“Featuring fourteen essential shades, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette is the perfect collection of easy-to-blend, full pigment shadows. With a long lasting formula, this palette is complete with bronze metallics and iridescent finishes ideal for a nighttime look and neutral mattes for daytime.“
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette has similar packaging to the Modern Renaissance Palette in that it’s a cardboard style palette with a flocked texture on the front and back in a lovely camel colour which reflects the shades inside very well. The palette comes with a slim mirror within the lid as well as a double ended eyeshadow brush which is definitely one of the best brushes I’ve seen within a palette with one side being a rounded, fluffy blending brush and the other a denser, flatter brush for laying colour down on the lids.
Within the ABH Soft Glam Palette there are seven completely new eyeshadow shades as well as seven popular existing shades which I really love. If you already own the Modern Renaissance Palette, there is some cross over with shades but that wouldn’t bother me as it’s handy to be able to use the whole palette without having to reach for other palettes.

Is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette something you ‘need’? If you have many neutral palettes then I guess you probably wont but it’s without a doubt one of the best palettes I’ve ever tried and I prefer it to all of my Urban Decay Naked Palettes (1,2,3, Smokey, Ultimate Basics and Basics 1 and 2) and Urban Decay was my holy grail eyeshadow formula. The formula of these shadows is far superior than the Urban Decay shadow formula which is something I never thought I’d say as I own 15 different Urban Decay palettes and they were my favourite brand for eyeshadows… until now.
All fourteen shadows are intensely pigmented, so much so these swatches of Mulberry, Noir and Sienna stained my hand as they’re so rich in pigment. Generally shimmers perform better than mattes but the mattes within this palette are just as amazing as the shimmers and they’re insanely easy to blend with very little effort needed.
The shadows are all very soft and they do create a little kick-up in the pans when using a brush but I ensure I always tap my brush before applying to my lid to minimise any potential fall out. Every shade compliments eachother so you really can’t go wrong when creating a look and their softness and blendability is just amazing.
I know there’s a few people that are berating ‘another nude palette’ but this is my favourite nude palette within my collection and I’d absolutely recommend this palette over any of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I never expected to be so blown away by this palette but I love it so much and the balance of shimmers and metallics to mattes.
My standout shades would have to be Rose Pink, Sultry, Fairy and Sienna but I love them all and I’m going to repurchase the Modern Renaissance Palette as the Soft Glam Palette has just ignited my love for Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows.
