I have developed quite the love affair for Sol de Janeiro ever since I first tried their products last summer. So far I’ve discovered and fallen head over heels in love with their Bum Bum Cream, Brazilian Kiss Lip Balm, Brazilian 4 Play Shower Gel, Brazilian Touch Hand Cream, Samba Foot Cream and the Brazilian Crush Body Spray, and I have a shelf in my bedroom dedicated to my Sol de Janeiro collection. I’m thrilled that Sol de Janeiro keeps adding more products to their line and the newest addition to the collection is the new Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff Smoothing Scrub and Mask 160ml which is £21 and available from Cult Beauty.
“Our unique first-of-its-kind formula for the body that works double duty as a daily exfoliating scrub and a detoxifying treatment mask. Crushed Brazilian Quartz Crystal help polish and smooth while soothing Amazon River Clay helps purify. Get ready for super soft, irresistible touch-me-now Brazilian babe skin.
Brazilian babes use this on legs, arms, chest, back and, of course, their bum bum! Lightly scented with our addictive signature Cheirosa ’62 fragrance of pistachio and salted caramel to instantly transport you to the heart and soul of Rio. Our sunny “Sol” tint puts the fun back into body beautifying.”
The Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff is packaged within a squeezy plastic tube which I really like and wish more body scrubs came in squeezy tubes as it makes it so much easier to use especially in the shower with wet hands. I haven’t use a body mask before so I had no idea what to expect with this scrub and mask duo, but it really appealed as it contains three different types of natural exfoliant agents;
Brazilian Quartz Crystal: Known as the “master healer” to amplify energy and thought, this beloved Brazilian semi-precious gemstone exfoliates skin and is the ultimate luxury to pamper your body, mind, and spirit. Tropical Volcanic Pumice: This natural rock helps to reveal the softest layers of your skin. Rice Grain: Rice Grain gently exfoliates by encouraging natural skin turnover to immediately reveal healthy, glowing, and radiant skin.
Whereas the Amazon River Kaolin Clay originates from the banks of the Amazon River with negatively-charged particles that are said to bond to positively-charged toxins and other impurities for an intensely purifying effect. I really couldn’t wait to smear it all over my skin and see how effective it would be.
The Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff has the thick consistency of a clay face mask and is a mustard colour which I really didn’t expect, but it matches the colour of the tube perfectly. The mask contains a decent amount of exfoliative particles which vary in size and the bigger particles tend to break down even further as you massage the product into the skin.
To use the Bod Buff as a daily body scrub you simply gently massage over wet skin in circular motions to polish and smooth the skin, and as a mask you apply to dry skin and leave for 5-10 minutes. After ten minutes allow warm water to soften the mask to transform it into a scrub, and massage in circular motions to buff the skin.
I personally wouldn’t use the Bod Buff as a daily body scrub as I don’t feel you really get the benefits like you do when using it as a mask first, and then a scrub once it’s time to wash it off. If I want to use a straight up body scrub, I’d rather use a more affordable body scrub as you only get 160ml in the tube. I don’t use it on my dries parts of my body such as my arms but it’s amazing for legs before shaving and my chest and shoulders.
If you do any sports or go to the gym I imagine this would be amazing to use post-workout to draw out impurities from the skin as it has a clarifying effect on the skin. I absolutely adore using the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bod Buff in the shower and following up with the Bum Bum Cream and Foot Fetish Foot Cream for a Sol de Janeiro delicious scented pamper session and I’m a big fan.
