CYO Cosmetics is Boots newest beauty brand and I first tried their products back in February and was really impressed with the quality considering how affordable the whole range is. I was kindly given a collection of their CYO Cosmetics Summer Glow Makeup range, and there’s something for every skintone with lots of different products and formulas enabling you to achieve a gorgeous glow for your cheeks, eyes, complexion, body and even the lips. Everything within the CYO range is super affordable with the cheapest product being just £3.50 and the most expensive is £7.50 and they’re available on the Boots website as well as larger Boots stores.
CYO Cosmetics Shimmer Switch Bronzing & Highlighting Palette – In The Clouds £5
The CYO Shimmer Brick contains four different shimmery shades which can be used individually or blended together, and can be used on both the face and eyes. The palette contains a light yellow gold, a peach champagne, a warm bronze and a dark brown which when blended together creates a gorgeous shimmery bronze that can be used all over as a bronzer or you can use the individual shades as eyeshadows. The shades are all stunning when used alone on the eyes, but the shade is too dark for me to use as a shimmer brick but I bet it’d look so pretty on deeper skintone with a large fluffy brush on the arms, legs and decolletage.
CYO Cosmetics Rock ‘n Gold Bronzing Rocks – Fair/Medium £4.50
These bronzing rocks are seriously pretty, I can’t believe they’re only £4.50. They are available in two different shades; Fair/Medium and Medium/Dark, and they’re a generous pot of different coloured powder ‘rocks’ which can be used on the face and body, and even have a coconut scent for holiday vibes. They’re a prettier version of the bronzing pearls we’ve all tried in the past, and they really are stunning. You can use a large fluffy brush to dust the shimmer all over your body and it’s a relatively subtle shimmer too. The pot even includes a large sponge to help protect the rocks within the little pot.
CYO Cosmetics Gilt of Gold Bronzing Shimmer Oil £7
This bronzing shimmer oil is the perfect product within the CYO Cosmetics Summer Glow Makeup range to achieve a golden glow, and again it’s such a great price at just £7. It’s a glass bottle with a pipette and is a coconut scented oil with lots of bronze shimmer suspended within in it. It can be used on the face and body to enhance a tan with a lightweight and non-greasy formula which is water resistant and long lasting. I believe there aren’t any other shades other than this, but this is too deep for my skintone but I think it’s an amazing dupe for the Clarins After Sun Shimmer Oil which was £32 and just as pretty.
CYO Cosmetics When The Sun Don’t Shine Bronzing Powder – Fair £4
I think it’s hard to find a decent drugstore bronzer which isn’t too orange and unnatural on the skin but this £4 option from CYO is great and there’s three different shades depending on your skintone. I have the fairest shade which is a warm bronze and completely matte, and it also has a subtle coconut scent. The pan is a really decent, large size so you could easily use it on the face/body and it even contains vitamin E to help nourish the skin.
CYO Cosmetics Cool as a Coconut Cooling Bronzing Stick £5.50
From the selection of products I’ve been testing this was the only one which I found to be disappointing and one I wouldn’t recommend sadly. It’s a solid stick of a gel/cream formula which you can apply directly to the skin but I’ve found it to be greasy and patchy, and not at all blendable like it claims. It’s a great format for quick and easy application but the formula isn’t great and it doesn’t look natural on the skin either.
CYO Cosmetics All Eyes & Cheek Cream Shadow and Blush – Only Words £4.50
I love a good cream blush as they’re so easy to use but I’ve never found a cream blush which doubles up as a cream shadow too. There are five different shades which are all pinks and peaches so I’m not entirely sure they’ll work as eyeshadows but I like more minimal makeup when on holiday so multi-use products are always handy. The shades all have a matte finish and I have the shade Only Words which is a deep pink and super pigmented for a cream blush, but it can be easily sheered out for a more subtle flush of colour.
CYO Cosmetics Speaks Volumes Plumping Lip Gloss £5
The last product I have from the CYO Cosmetics Summer Glow Makeup range is this pretty milky pink lipgloss in the shade All Psyched. The gloss has a subtle minty scent (although the description claims it’s Cherry but it’s definitely mint) but no strong taste and is designed to plump the lips instantly so they appear bigger and plumper, with a non-sticky formula. I agree with the claims as it doesn’t feel sticky on the lips, and it doesn’t burn my lips either. Some plumping glosses can burn my lips but this isn’t uncomfortable at all, and I like wearing it alone for a pretty shine and milky pink hue but there are four other shades if this isn’t your kind of colour.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from CYO Cosmetics before?
