You know when you try a skincare product and you’re completely bowled over from the very first use?! That exact thing happened with the Superdrug Optimum PhytoEnergise Glycolic Cleansing Pads. I spotted the Superdrug Optimum PhytoEnergise Glycolic Cleansing Pads in the new-in section on the Superdrug website and I knew I had to try them as I’ve been wowed by everything I’ve tried from the Superdrug Optimum range.
They’re £9.99 for 40 pads which isn’t as many pads as the likes of Nip + Fab as they have 60 pads but the Superdrug Optimum range always an offer on it as I bought mine for half price for only £4.98 but as I right this post it’s currently on a buy one get one free offer. As these pads are so new, there are no reviews or information online about them so I did blind buy them but I am so glad I did as they are amazing.
“These Pads deeply cleanse the skin and help minimise the appearance of enlarged pores, while retexturising the skin’s surface to reveal a brighter, fresher complexion. Containing Seaweed Taurine and Glycolic Acid to brighten, reduce pore size and refine the skin’s texture.“
The Superdrug Optimum PhytoEnergise Glycolic Cleansing Pads are the same size as other brands with a circular cotton pad that has small raised bumps on one side to aid exfoliation, and the opposite side is smooth.
The pads can be used all over the face and neck, and the directions recommend using them 1-2 times a week. I’ve tried many different brands of exfoliating pads such as Nip + Fab, Superdrug Naturally Radiant, First Aid Beauty, Pixi, Lacura and more but these Superdrug Optimum PhytoEnergise Glycolic Cleansing Pads are the best acid based exfoliating pads I’ve ever used.
Each pad is saturated in toner and allows me to use it all over my face and neck without drying out. Normally with similar pads I have to use a couple of pads to do my whole face and neck and very rarely is there enough product for me to flip the pad over and use that as a second step.
Even after I’ve done my face and neck, there’s still enough product on the pad so even though there’s 40 rather than 60 pads, they’ll last me longer as I only ever need to use one pad per day. The pads have a fresh scent but I can’t put my finger on a specific description, but I like it and the scent does linger for a few minutes.
The softening effects of these pads is instant and they instantly make my dry patches feel non-existent which never happens with any other brand of exfoliating toner pads, and the more I use them the better my skin is looking and feeling. The texture of my skin is considerably smoother, and my dry patches are much much less noticeable ad it’s not as if they just give a quick result which then dissipates.
If I use one and then don’t use another for three days my skin is still as smooth without using them as they’re so effective. I’ve also noticed an increase in blackheads as the glycolic acid is stimulating my skin’s renewal process so my skin is ‘purging’ and even though I’ve had more blackheads since using the pads, the rest of my skin is looking and feeling so much better. I cannot recommend these pads enough, they’ve blown me away and I think may be my favourite skincare product discovery for a good twelve months – they’re amazing.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from the Superdrug Optimum skincare range?
