I am a serious Pinterest addict, and one of my favourite board is my beauty dupe board as I love discovering budget products which rival high end. One particular beauty dupe I’ve seen extremely often is the ELF Tea Rose Matte Lip Color which some have called a dupe for the MAC Faux Lipstick. I don’t own Faux myself so I can’t comment on whether it is infact a dupe, but it is a shade I’ve wanted to try so I figured I’d try Tea Rose and see if the colour suits me before paying £17.50 for the MAC version. The ELF Tea Rose Matte Lip Color is only £4.50 and is available in multiple shades, but Tea Rose really appealed from the swatches I’d seen on Pinterest.
I’ve tried a lot of ELF lip products, but never their Matte Lip Colors. Superdrug only has a few colours available but the ELF UK website have eleven shades, so I hope more shades make their way to Superdrug as I know I want to try more shades as I love the formula so much. The reviews for the Matte Lip Colors are amazing, with 1882 reviews averaging at 4.3 out of 5 so I knew the formula would be good prior to trying this lipstick pencil and there’s even a pencil sharpener hidden within the base of the pencil to keep the nib precise.
“This convenient lip pencil creates exact color application with twist up ease. The pigment rich color glides on effortlessly and easily to provide long lasting matte color. The enriched Vitamin A, C & E formula moisturizes and hydrates lips for beautiful healthy looking lips.“
The ELF Tea Rose Matte Lip Color matte formula is so comfortable and has a little shine when first applied, and feels more like a satin formula than a matte. The pencil is very pigmented and smooth without dragging the lips. The nib doesn’t offer the most precise application which isn’t an issue with a shade like this, but the bolder shades would perhaps need to be used with a matching lip liner to emphasise the lip liner. I don’t normally like a matte lip as they can be so drying, but I love this formula and I can’t believe it’s less than £5 and if you like Tea Rose, they also do the shade in their Matte Liquid Lipstick formula too.
Have you tried any of the ELF Matte Lipsticks before?
