The Pixi Pretties Collaboration from last year was so successful that Pixi collaborated with three more influencers to do another Pixi Pretties collection, this time featuring Chloe Morello, Dulce Candy and Weylie Huang. I have already featured two of the three collaborations and today I have the final collaboration with Dulce Candy, which are available on the Pixi UK website.
Dulce Candy is a very popular American YouTuber with over 2.3 million subscribers and whilst she now features more varied content, she started as a beauty based YouTube channel and I’ve watched her videos for years. From the three Pixi Pretties collections, the Pixi x Dulce Candy collection is my least favourite but it’s still a very pretty collection with super wearable shades.
The Pixi x Dulce Candy collection consists of two palettes; the Cafe con Dulce Palette £28 for the eyes and cheeks, and the Sweet Like Candy Palette £28 for lips and cheeks. Just like the Chloe and Weylie collections, Dulce has created a YouTube video talking through the inspiration for the collection. Dulce says she’s been a fan of the Pixi brand for many years and she fell in love with the way Pixi focuses on skincare.
The thought behind the Cafe con Dulce Palette was that Dulce wanted to create an all over face palette which was versatile, and could be used often. The Sweet Like Candy Palette was designed to be comfortable on the lips without the need for lipliner, and the shades can be used as cream blushes.
Dulce wanted her products to work for people of all skintones, and for all occasions and I think she’s done a really good job at achieving that. For her individual shade names for both palettes, Dulce tweeted asking her followers for inspiration for shade names and Dulce used a few names which were suggested by her followers which is such a nice touch.
Pixi x Dulce Candy Cafe con Dulce All Over Face Palette
“Bring out your natural beauty and enliven your complexion, lids and cheeks with this multi-use palette. Powder to cream blush, face glow, and lid hues enhance & add luminosity. Swish on these gorgeous shades to recreate Dulce’s stunning look.“
Dulce describes the nine powder shades as having a cream to powder formulation which is very soft and smooth so it’s flattering for skin of all ages without settling into fine lines. Dulce chose some darker shades at the bottom of the palette so they could be used as eyeshadows, and the lighter shades can be used as highlighters, eyeshadows, blushes or even on the body. The palette is a glow palette with zero matte shades so it’s not the palette for you if you prefer matte shades.
Dulce describes the shades in the middle of the palette as being duo-chromatic but I don’t notice any duochrome shifts of any of the shades but every shade is so pretty, soft and shimmery and it’s a neutral eyeshadow lover’s dream. The shades are so easy to wear and they all complement eachother very well, but I do wish there were more a couple of deeper shades for a more dramatic eyeshadow look.
Pixi x Dulce Candy Sweet Like Candy Lipstick Palette
“A universally flattering assortment of shades curated by Dulce applies easily & adheres smoothly, adding velvety rich colour to both lips and cheeks. This multi-use formula contains antioxidants and minerals to keep skin soft and hydrated.“
Dulce knew that most lipstick palettes tend to be waxy in terms of formula with poor colour payoff, which is why she wanted her lipstick palette to be the complete opposite offering comfortable colour that lasts. Each of the nine pans contains a melted lipstick, and they’re true to colour in that they apply to the lips as the same colour in the pan and you can mix shades to create a custom shade too.
The shades can all be applied with your fingertip or a synthetic lip brush, and they have a creamy shiny finish which can be mattified by blotting or applying loose translucent powder. The pigmentation of the shades do differ with the majority of them being quite sheer, but they are buildable and not at all waxy. They feel balmy on the lips and the shade range is so pretty with peaches, nudes, mauves and pinks which all work beautifully on the cheeks or lips.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the palettes?
