I’ve never had much luck with the Makeup Revolution lipsticks thus far, as I’ve always found them to be quite waxy and lacking in pigment regardless of the Revolution brand (Makeup Revolution, I Heart Makeup, Freedom) until I tried the Makeup Revolution Renaissance Lipsticks. Don’t get me wrong, the Renaissance Lipsticks definitely don’t rival the quality of higher end lipsticks but they are only £4 each so they’re pretty decent for a budget lip colour. Seeing as I enjoyed the Renaissance Lipsticks, I decided to buy the Makeup Revolution Chauffeur Rose Gold Lipstick which was only £3 but there are only five shades available within the Rose Gold range which isn’t the most generous.
The Revolution Chauffeur Rose Gold Lipstick is packaged within rose gold, plastic casing which looks so sleek and pretty. The base of the lipstick as a matching colour base to indicate which shade is inside the lipstick.
I really thought Revolution would have extended the Rose Gold Lipstick range as it’s been so well received, but still there’s only five shades to choose from; a nude, a neon pink, a red, a berry red and a deep purple. I didn’t like any of the other shades except Chauffeur but Chauffeur is also available with their Iconic Matte formulation but I don’t like Revolution matte bullet lipsticks as they’re a little chalky and drying for my liking.
The Revolution Chauffeur Rose Gold Lipstick is a really pretty nudey brown shade which is such a flattering nude shade. I find the formula to be a satin but it’s bordering on matte as there’s next to no shine when applied to the lips. It doesn’t feel stiff and chalky like a matte, nor does it feel uncomfortable.
I’ve seen a few comparisons of this shade being a dupe for MAC Blankety but I don’t own Blankety to make any comparisons but the swatches I’ve seen online show them to be very similar. It’s a really pretty, wearable nude which suits almost any makeup look and it’s one of the nicest drugstore lipsticks I’ve tried for under £5.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of the Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipsticks?
