I’m sorry for the week long unexpected blogging and social media break, but I’ve been quite poorly. I know I don’t really share personal information here on my blog but I felt like I needed to explain where I disappeared to. I was diagnosed with Glandular Fever in June after a blood test and I’ve ended up with a kidney infection on top of that so I’ve been under the weather to say the least. I’m still not well enough to go back to daily blogging like before, but I’ve got some drafts which I had all written up before my infection so I’m going to stagger them to ease myself back into blogging but hopefully I’ll be back to normal soon but thank you so so much for the many lovely messages.
I have somewhat of an obsession with liquid and cream eyeshadows, as I just love how effortless they are when you’re short on time or simply cannot be bothered with an intricate eye makeup look. I love all different types of cream shadows; pencils, sticks, creams, gels and liquids in both matte and shimmer finishes with some of my favourites being the By Terry Ombré Blackstar Pencils, Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Sticks and MAC Paint Pots. I have been a fan of the Collection Glam Crystals Glitter Eyeliners for a good ten years and I’ve always wondered why they hadn’t extended the range and introduced more shades as they are so popular but finally the Glam Crystals range has been extended with the launch of four shades of Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow.
I am surprised Collection have only launched four shades, especially as three of the four shades are very similar but they’re only £3.99 so it’s good you get all four for only £15.96. I chose the Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow in the shade Envy 3 but I couldn’t find any swatches online so I wasn’t entirely sure what the shade was apart from being slightly dark but ‘Karma’ looks almost identical to Envy in the stock images.
Usually I’d include the brand’s description of a product but the Collection description leaves a lot to be desired in all honesty; “Long-Lasting, Highly Pigmented Liquid eyeshadow for a metallic finish.” which isn’t the most descriptive so I really didn’t know what to expect with the Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow formula but I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried from Collection thus far.
The Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow has a doefoot applicator and the eyeshadow has a thin consistency which isn’t intensely pigmented like the claims. I don’t typically layer any of my cream eyeshadows but one layer of the Glam Crystals Eyeshadow is pretty sheer as shown above and I was quite disappointed the first time I tried it as I could still see my eyelid through the eyeshadow. If you like a sheer, barely there makeup look it might work for you but I would strongly recommend doing at least two years as it improves dramatically in terms of colour and metallic finish.
Envy is a chocolate brown shade with golden shimmer, but when applied in one layer the shimmer is very subtle as is the brown shade. Two layers doesn’t create a fully opaque finish, but it’s very close so I prefer to apply one layer with my fingertip and then once it’s fully dry go ahead and apply another layer and soften the edges with an eyeshadow brush. I’ve tried a lot of liquid eyeshadows and this isn’t one of my favourites as I feel like you can get better coverage and a prettier finished look with the likes of the ELF Molten Liquid Eyeshadow, the ColourPop Supernova Eyeshadows and the Heng Fang Liquid Eyeshadows (Stila dupes I blogged about which are only £1.50) all of which are £5 and under.
Have you tried any of the new Collection Glam Crystals Liquid Eyeshadow shades?
