Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 Fragrance

I have featured endless amounts of fragrance on my blog over the last five and a half years, but the Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 Fragrance is without a doubt the hardest fragrance to try and describe. When I first started blogging, the Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 fragrance was one of the most talked about fragrances and the whole brand is so intriguing and their fragrances are available from Cult Beauty. I featured this fragrance within my Happy 10th Birthday Cult Beauty post as it was their bestselling product for the year 2009. I’d only ever heard of the Molecule 01 scent but I was super surprised to see that they have a lot of different fragrances and even body washes too.

Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 Fragrance

Molecule 01 is created solely from the aroma-chemical Iso E Super, which works as more of an effect than a fragrance. The scent has a subtle, velvety, woody note which will meld with your natural pheromones, vanish, then re-surface after some time, making it totally individual and personalised to the wearer. You will rarely smell this on yourself, Molecule 01 is more about the effect it has on others.

Iso E Super has a marked intermittence. To the wearer, it seems to vanish and then re-appear. This is due to the way it bonds with receptors in the olfactory system, only slowly releasing to make way for a fresh charge of the molecule on the receptors. Iso E Super does not exist in nature. It was created in a laboratory at IFF in 1973.

The Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 fragrance is available in a 30ml travel size £36, a special travel case edition which is the one that I have £46 and also an 100ml version £72. The travel case is designed to protect the fragrances in transit for maximum portability. Each metal case is blasted with stainless steel ‘sand’ to burnish the surface to a soft lustre and is then anodised for high durability. It’s incredible sleek and it’s amazing to know the glass bottle is protected when inside the case and you can keep the case for future 30ml bottles of their fragrance to reuse it.

Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 Fragrance

The Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 fragrance can be worn by both women and men, and it’s extremely long lasting even though it feels so light and fresh on the skin. I’ve seen reviews describing Molecule 01 as being woody, floral and musky but I honestly cannot describe the scent except it smells completely different on my skin to what it smells like on my other half where on him it smells a lot fresher and cleaner. It must seem so pointless to feature a fragrance you can’t describe but that’s how Escentric Molecules purposely designed their brand as each of their fragrances works with your personal pheromones for a truly customised scent so it’s never going to smell the same on anyone which I find so fascinating.

It’s the kind of fragrance which always gets compliments whenever I wear it, and nobody ever knows who Escentric Molecules are so I love that I’m wearing a really unique and special scent and I also love trying it on other people to see what it smells like as it’s crazy how different it smells on everyone, but it always smells lovely in whichever form it takes. As it’s such an original fragrance, I’d recommend looking on Fragrantica for the many reviews to get an idea of what others think and it’s so interesting to see how different it smells for everyone. I can smell it on my skin for upto 24 hours which never happens for me, so I feel like Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 is a fragrance I’ll forever repurchase.

Have you ever tried any of the Escentric Molecules fragrances before?
