I have raved about the Huda Beauty eyeshadows endlessly on my blog over the last 8 months, but they really are one of my favourite eyeshadow formulas. I’ve only tried the Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes and one of the Lip Strobes, but I’ve heard so many amazing things about the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick formula so I was very happy to receive the shade Icon as a gift. The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks are available from Cult Beauty alongside the rest of the Huda Beauty range and they’re £18 each for 5ml which is pretty decent considering the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks are £20 for only 3.2ml of product. There are currently sixteen shades to choose from, and Icon is described as being a ‘peachy pink’.
“Introducing Huda Beauty’s latest lip beautifier: the Liquid Matte, an unrivaled take on the liquid lipstick. The tried and true comfort-wear formula from top beauty expert, Huda Kattan, is infused with antioxidants and an exclusive complex to help maintain the lips’ hydration.
The lightweight formula glides on a thin coat of color that intensifies as it sets to a matte, transfer-free finish with amazing staying power. You might even forget you’re wearing anything on your lips at all!
Sixteen must-have colors can to be used alone or combined to create the perfect color for any occasion. Pair it with a complementary Huda Beauty Lip Contour to set off your look. Color appearance may vary based on skin tone once set.“
I’ve never been a massive fan of matte liquid lipsticks which I know puts me in the minority as everyone raves about a matte, longlasting lip but I just don’t find them to be very flattering. Saying that, I still have a large collection of matte liquid lipsticks so I’m able to compare formulas and I have to say the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte formula is one of the best I’ve tried. First of all I love the packaging with the lip design which shows the shade inside the tube, and although I don’t necessarily keep the outer packaging I still love how much thought goes into the Huda Beauty packaging.
The Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks have a matte frosted, clear plastic tube with a slim doefoot applicator. The Liquid Mattes have a matte finish to the tube, whereas the Lip Strobes have shiny tubes and shiny lids too. There are so many more colours available within the range in the US with 25 matte shades and two metallic matte shades, but sixteen is still a good shade range so there’s bound to be a shade you’ll love. Huda created her Liquid Matte formula as she could never find a liquid lipstick that suited her needs which would have a long-lasting, transfer-free finish.
Although Icon is described as being a peachy pink, I don’t find it to be at all peach or pink and I’ve looked online to see if it’s just my skintone which makes the shade look so different but I can’t find any swatches which show Icon to be a peachy pink either. The lipstick has a subtle fruity scent and has a very thin consistency which might disappoint some as it’s not opaque in one swipe, but you can get full opacity in just two layer or only one if you wore a lipliner underneath but I think the lighter shades .
It dries very quickly and layers well without patchiness or flaking, and once it’s completely dry it doesn’t budge until you use a makeup remover so it’s definitely a formula to try if you like a lip colour you can apply in the morning and not have to worry about touching up throughout the day. The lipstick is so comfortable on the lips, and as it’s so lightweight I find myself forgetting I’m wearing a liquid lipstick which never happens. Icon is out of my comfort zone as I’m a nude and pink kinda girl, but I’m loving the look of Trendsetter, Trophy Wife and Muse.
I’d love to know if you’ve ever tried any of the Huda Beauty Liquid Matte lipsticks before?
