Nugg are a brand I’ve seen a lot within American beauty YouTube videos, but I had no idea we could get Nugg here in the UK at the likes of Feel unique and Selfridges. If you’re new to the brand, Nugg’s products have pocket-friendly prices and are described as;
- formulated with potent and beautiful blends of natural oils and extracts
- produced without mineral oils, parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and colors
- formulated with 93% to 100% natural or naturally-derived ingredients — fresh, clean, skin barrier friendly and green as possible without compromising efficacy
- cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified
I’ve never tried any of their products before, but I was kindly given the Nugg Summer Masking Heroes to try and I am so surprised by how many different masks the brand has to offer as there really is something for every skin type and every skin concern. There is the option to buy one use ‘nuggets’ as well as some multipack options should you want to buy mulitple packs in one. The size of the ‘pods’ are just so perfect for travel as they take up absolutely no room at all, and the sachet masks are nice and slim too.
Nugg Charcoal Skin Detox Face Mask 9ml £3.99
This is the individual pod version of the mask which contains 9ml of product and designed for single use, but you can also purchase the multipack of five pods for £17.99. This mask is described as being their best mask for oily, acne-prone and combination skin.
The mask is designed to help blackhead removal while promoting a clear, even skin look with less oil and shine. I don’t have oily skin so this isn’t a mask I can use as my skin is super dry, but the reviews on the Nugg website are amazing if you’d like to see how the mask worked for those with a similar skin type to yourself. The ingredients and description of this mask sound so similar to the Origins Clear Improvement Mask except the Nugg version is considerably more affordable.
“The charcoal mask features a unique, gel-mud texture to help detoxify and clarify your skin without stripping it of moisture and while soothing it at the same time. The natural tea tree scent is refreshing and promotes an authentic at home spa experience. Developed with 97% natural or naturally-derived ingredients including charcoal, natural clays, oatmeal extract, and tea tree oil.“
Nugg Tea Tree & Sea Silt Peel Off Face Mask 15g £4.99
I love a good peel off mask, there’s something so satisfying about peeling off a mask especially if you can do it one go – I know I’m weird. This mask is so unique as you empty the packet of powder into a bowl and mix it with 45ml of water, then mix together to create a smooth yet thick paste which you then apply to the face.
You can use your hand to apply the mask from the bowl but that’s a little too messy for my liking so I used my Real Techniques Foundation Brush and it was relatively easy to apply. The mask does set within around five minutes depending on how thick you’ve applied the mask, but after 10-15 minutes you can start the peeling action. I didn’t find it at all drying, but it did leave my skin feeling very soft, and brighter which I didn’t expect but I was pleasantly surprised.
“A natural and vegan peel-off face mask that tones, cleanses, detoxifies, cools and energizes your skin, leaving it looking instantly refreshed and refined and feeling smooth and soft. This non-drying, alcohol-free DIY face mask is a powder formula, made with marine alginate for a pain-free peel! Perfect to cool off and mattify skin in the warmer summer months and to refine the appearance of pore size!”
Nugg Charcoal & Vitamin C Peel Off Face Mask 15g £4.99
This mask is another powder situation which you have to mix into a bowl/pot with water and then apply to the face. I bought a face mask set from eBay for £2.45 which contains a bowl, some measuring spoons, a spatula and a brush for application which is AMAZING for applying face masks and it’s a UK seller so it took a week but it means masking is a lot less messy.
This mask is my favourite from the two face masks I tried as it had such an impressive, instant improvement to my complexion with my pores looking considerably less congested and like a mask pore strip without the discomfort.
“Natural and vegan charcoal peel-off face mask that acts as a powerful skin detox, leaving skin clear, bright, soft and shine free and pores unclogged. As the charcoal and clay naturally draw out impurities and mattify skin, Vitamin C from lemon peel oil helps brighten and smooth the skin for a more radiant look. Cleanse, decongest and refine pores with this incredible peel-off mask for oily, combination and acne-prone skin.“
Nugg Hydrating Lip Mask 7g £9.99
This was the product I was most intrigued about trying as I don’t recall ever using a lip mask like this before, and coconut anything is a winner in my book, and this particular mask has won a Cosmopolitan award. It’s a gold, metallic ball which unscrews to reveal a light peach coloured cream that you simply apply generously to the lips and leave it to work its magic over night or for 10 – 20 minutes, and then tissue off any remnants from the lips.
I really like that Nugg recommend reusing the empty sphere as a travel container for moisturiser or serum when travelling. I love the coconut scent of this lip mask, it smells amazing and it makes my lips feel extremely soft and any dry patches are minimised so it’s ideal as for a prep step before applying lipstick.
“An all-natural, vegan lip mask that acts as the perfect remedy for dry, chapped lips. Mask softens away dryness, leaving behind soft, kissable lips. This luxurious lip treatment is packed with coconut oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter to intensely pamper dry lips.“
I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from Nugg before? Have you got any recommendations for me?
