StarSkin Coco Nuts Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask

It’s crazy how massive masking has become within the beauty community, with almost every skincare brand now having their own mask/s. I’ve always loved a good face mask, and I particularly enjoy multimasking, using a more hydrating mask on my cheeks, forehead and nose, and using a more clarifying mask on my chin and jawline. Although face masks have become extremely popular in recent years, I know myself have used hair masks ever since I was a teenager and I used to love the Herbal Essences hair masks.

Just like everything in the world of beauty, masks have come a long way and in the last few months there’s been a rise in hair masks which come with a shower cap and heat up whilst on the hair. I’ve seen a lot of reviews on the new Elvive Dream Lengths Heat Mask but it’s £5.99 for one use which I think is way too much for a drugstore one use hair mask, and the ingredients aren’t great. The StarSkin Coco Nuts Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask looked like a much better alternative as it’s £8.50 which I think is pretty good considering StarSkin are an highend brand compared to the likes of L’Oreal Elvive, and the ingredients are a lot more impressive.

StarSkin Coco Nuts Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask

The StarSkin Coco Nuts Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask comes with a 40ml sachet containing the hair mask mixture as well as a StarSkin, star printed shower cap which you could definitely reuse if you rinse it after use. The directions are pretty simple as you need to heat the unopened hair mask sachet in a microwave for 20 seconds or sit the unopened sachet in a mug of hot water for 30 seconds.

Cut along the dotted line on the sachet and massage the hot oil into your dry hair and scalp from the roots to the tips then cover the hair with the elasticated cap and leave for upto 20 minutes, although for more intensive results you can wear the cap overnight and rinse in the morning by shampooing twice.

StarSkin Coco Nuts Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask

The StarSkin Coco Nuts Mask is such an easy mask to do especially as you’re applying to dry hair and it’s not messy at all. I poured the heated oil mixture into a plastic bowl and then scooped out a little of the oil at a time and then apply it to my hair rather than just pour from the sachet so I could be more targeted with my application. I did wonder if this mask would offer anything more than applying pure coconut oil to the hair, but it absolutely does.

It has a delicious coconut scent and the nourishing blend of oils work to repair, hydrate, strengthen, seal in moisture and nourish the hair from within. StarSkin chose coconut for the mask as it’s only the oil which can fully penetrate the hair shaft, and it’s so easy to smooth over the dry hair, and I just twisted my hair as if I was making a bun and then tucked it all within the cap.

It’s a lot less messy than masks you apply to wet hair as there’s no dripping and I wore my cap overnight which was very easy to do as the cap wasn’t uncomfortable. The StarSkin Coco Nuts Nourishing Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask is suitable for all hair types, and is even colour safe whilst being 10 free (parabens, phtalates, silicone, alcohol, mineral oils, sulfates, triclosan, mercury, artificial colouring and harsh chemical preservatives).

StarSkin recommend using the mask 1-2 times a week, but the benefits of the mask lasted on my hair so it’s definitely something I’ll repurchase especially if I have a special occasion and want my hair to look and feel its best as it’s an amazing mask, and it leaves your hair smelling divine until you next wash it.
