Every single month, Cult Beauty announce one of their many brands as their #CultBrandoftheMonth where they focus on one particular brand for that month on their website and across their social media platforms. The Cult Beauty Brand of the Month for September 2018 is Charlotte Tilbury, and Cult Beauty have free international delivery on all Charlotte Tilbury orders so it’s definitely the time to place an order if you’ve been contemplating doing so as free worldwide shipping is not to be missed.
I’m already a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury as a brand, and I’ve already featured a variety of their products here on my blog including their skincare, makeup and fragrance. If you’re new to the Tilbury brand, or are simply looking for some inspiration on which products to choose, I have three lovely lip products you need in your collection…
My very first Charlotte Tilbury product was the iconic Bitch Perfect Lipstick which to this day is still one of my absolute favourites, and the Tilbury brand has introduced a plethora of new lip formulas so there’s a formula and shade for everyone. Charlotte Tilbury have three different lipstick formulas; the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Collection for those that like a more hydrating, creamy formula with their lipstick, the Matte Revolution Collection for the matte lipstick lovers and also the Hot Lips Collection which are inspired by celebrities. If conventional bullet design lipsticks aren’t for you, Charlotte also has glosses with the luscious Lip Lustres, liquid lipsticks with the Hollywood Lips and not forgetting those all important lip liners with the Lip Cheats.
Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath £25
“Collagen Lip Bath in Refresh Rose is a clear lip gloss enriched with skincare ingredients to create plumper-looking lips. Get fresh lips in a flash with this high-shine gloss that helps to put moisture back into the lips for an instantly healthier-looking pout.
Lip plumping mustard sprout extract helps to hydrate and enhance lip volume, defining the contours of your lips and creating a fuller, firmer-looking appearance. Marine Collagen moisturises and creates a plumping effect by hydrating your lips and giving the appearance of smoothing out lines and Coconut Oil nourishes and softens your lips.“
The newest addition to the Charlotte Tilbury lip library is the Collagen Lip Bath which very recently launched. I used to love the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Magic which was a pot style lip balm which made the lips tingle, but it was very effective at hydrating the lips. Although the Lip Magic may be no more, the new Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath is incredible and it was love at very first swipe. It’s available in just one shade which looks like a pearlescent rosy pink within the tube, but it’s clear on the lips and the pearlescent shimmers within the tube help to add dimension to the lips.
The heart shaped applicator is nice and flexible, and makes application very quick. It has a very subtle minty tingle thanks to the peppermint extract but there’s no burning sensation like many lip plumping products. On the lips it feels like a lip balm but looks like a lip gloss with a gorgeous mirror-like shine, and it really does plump the lips minus the sting you’d expect from a lip plumper. There’s zero stickiness and it can be worn alone or layered over other lip products but it’s my favourite Charlotte Tilbury lip product I’ve tried to date, and the stunning starburst design on the tube just exudes luxury.
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick – Nude Kate £24
The K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick formula is my favourite Charlotte Tilbury lipstick formula as it’s so comfortable to wear, with buildable colour and kind to the lips. The K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick range was the first lipstick range Charlotte Tilbury launched, and the packaging for all of the bullet style lipsticks is stunning with rose gold metal casing, with the CT intials engraved onto the top of the lid.
The K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipsticks have the conventional bullet shape whereas the Matte Revolution Lipsticks have a squared off design, but I personally prefer the conventional shape as it makes application to easy, especially with a super creamy formula like the K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks.
The K.I.S.S.I.N.G range of lipsticks was curated with modern and classic icons in mind, and the formula contains Lipstick Tree extracts which will help protect your lips from UV damage. The formula also contains light diffusing pigments to give a luminous, full bodied pout whilst the blend of waxes helps the formula glide over your lips for a seamless finish with no bleeding outside your lip line.
There are ten shades in total within the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick range, and I chose Nude Kate as I’m such a massive fan of nude lip colours. I love bolder lip colours on other people, but I just don’t find they flatter my skintone especially as my natural lip colour is a very pale pink.
Nude Kate is described by Charlotte as being a ‘light pink toned nude lipstick’ and it’s such a perfect nude lip colour for pale skintones. Charlotte recommends her Iconic Nude shade from the Lip Cheat collection to complement Nude Kate, but I love wearing Nude Kate layered over Pillow Talk for the perfect peachy pink pairing – gotta love some alliteration.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick – Pillow Talk £24
The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Cheat lip liner is possibly the most talked about Tilbury product so when news broke in early 2017 that a Pillow Talk lipstick was on the horizon, there was a serious amount of buzz especially as it was limited edition alongside the shade Valentine which was named by a winner of an Instagram competition.
I already love my Pillow Talk lip liner and use it with practically any nude or pink lipstick shade I own, so I knew I’d get a lot of wear from the matching lipstick. Following the huge success of the launch last year, Charlotte announced that Pillow Talk was to become a permanent fixture within the Matte Revolution lipstick range.
The Matte Revolution formula is enriched with soothing orchid and Lipstick Tree extracts, as well as 3D glowing pigments that create the illusion of lit-from-within lips that appear wider and fuller, with a softer, more youthful feel. Triglycerides are mixed with a perfect blend of oils and waxes allows the lipstick to glide across the lips with long-lasting colour. Some matte lipsticks can be super drying on the lips, but the Matte Revolution lipsticks feel like velvet on the lips and the oils and waxes really do help to prevent your lips from drying out.
Pillow Talk is an ‘iconic dreamy nude pink’ shade according to Charlotte, and it matches the matching Lip Cheat perfectly as shown in the swatches above. On my skintone, Pillow Talk is more of a medium pink rather than a nude but it’s such a universally complementary shade regardless of skintone. If you like to top your lipsticks with a complementary gloss, the Lip Lustre in Seduction is said to be a great match but I like that the Matte Revolution formula does have a hint of a subtle sheen on the lips making it more flattering if you do suffer with dry lips.
