If you’re new to Drinks By The Dram, they were founded in 2010 as a way of offering whisky enthusiasts and connoisseurs the opportunity to sample new releases of single malt Scotch whisky at a fraction of the cost of purchasing an entire bottle. Their extensive range now includes over 6,000 unique spirits, from rum and whisky to gin, Tequila, mezcal and more. Spirit fans can now “try before they buy” to find a new favourite to suit their individual tastes and budgets, and their format became so popular they decided to launch their own advent calendars and 2018 is their seventh year of offering spirits based advent calendars.

Drinks By The Dram have an huge collection of advent calendars this year, all of which are available to purchase from Master of Malt and 31 Dover. The Drinks By The Dram advent calendars start at £99.95 through to £9999.95 and include whisky, vodka, gin, scotch, rum, bourbon, cognac, tequila, mezcal and even absinthe so there’s a lot of choice. I chose the Drinks By The Dram The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar £149.95 as Rob is a massive whisky fan, but I like how much choice there is.

The Drinks By The Dram The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar contains twenty four windows which open to reveal a 3cl bottle of whisky every single day throughout Advent. The bottles are glass with a rustic black wax seal, and each bottle has a label showing the brand logo, the name of each whisky, the volume and the percent alcohol by volume.

I love the typewriter font on the labels as again it gives a more rustic feel and it makes the bottles feel a little more luxe and special as they’ve been printed especially for the calendar. The back of the calendar doesn’t give you any spoilers of what is inside the calendar but the Drinks by the Dram website does list the different blends in a random order so you can get a rough idea of what is inside the calendar prior to purchase.

Drinks By The Dram The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar SPOILER Alert!

Reading past this point will reveal the contents so don’t read on if you don’t want to know which whisky is behind each door.

So they are all of the amazing twenty four whiskies within the Drinks By The Dram The Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar. It’s definitely a considered purchase but if you have someone that’s so hard to buy for and you know they love whisky, this calendar would make them immensely happy. It’s such a fantastic way to try different blends from all different prices with the full sized bottles being worth upto £600 each depending on the blend.

The idea of having a special whisky everyday through December is exciting and it’s such a great way to discover new brands. In total you get 720ml of whisky which is just over the standard 70cl volume of a full size bottle of whisky but this calendar is so much more special than a whisky you can find in a supermarket.
