I feel like 2018 has been the year of the beauty influencer collaboration for many different brands both drugstore and highend. The newest collaboration to reach Superdrug is the Lottie London x Thuy Le Living My Best Life Collection which I’ve had the pleasure of trying. Thuy Le is a London based beauty Instagrammer (@xthuyle) with 1.1 million followers as well as 200,000 on YouTube. Lottie London have collaborated with Thuy Le to create a six piece collection, all of which are priced under £9 and available from the Lottie London website as well as Superdrug online and within Superdrug stores too.
The Lottie London x Thuy Le Living My Best Life Collection consists of the Living My Best Life Eyeshadow Palette which contains fourteen powder eyeshadows, two shades of Diamond Dips Face and Body Glitter Gels and three shades of Glitter Switch Liquid Lipsticks. The imagery from the collection is gorgeous and Thuy Le looks stunning in the promotional shots so I couldn’t wait to try the collection especially as I’ve never tried any of the Lottie London eyeshadows before.
Lottie London x Thuy Le Living My Best Life Eyeshadow Palette £8.95
“Featuring 14 of Thuy’s cannot-live-without metallics and mattes in a brand new, upgraded formula – these eyeshadows are super-soft and ultra-creamy for that perfectly blended eye look.
Each shadow was personally selected, tested and perfected by Thuy to deliver on her high standard of pigment, colour payoff and blendability. From a subtle array of golden browns to a bold blue, Thuy wanted to bring her dream shades together in one badass palette for you to live your best life!“
The eyeshadow palette features seven metallic powder shadows along the top row and the bottom row features seven matte shades. The colours within the top row aren’t the most cohesive for creating a look but that’s where the mattes come in as you can use the mattes to build a makeup look and then opt for one of the metallics for your lid colour or for an accent shade. The metallics are very pretty and are bordering on being foils, especially the first four shades. Shook, Yolo and Rebel4Lyf need building up but that’s typical for blues and greens regardless of the brand.
For me the magic really lies within the mattes – they are amazing. Until now my favourite drugstore matte shadow formula was the I Heart Revolution Chocolate Bar Palettes, but these Lottie London mattes are far superior and easily one of the best matte formulas I’ve ever tried. All seven mattes are super soft, smooth and buttery with minimal fallout and even the intense black; No T, No Shade is smooth and doesn’t skip on the lids. I really don’t think you’d be able to find a better eyeshadow palette for under £9, it’s so so good and I urge you to swatch the shades instore as I guarantee you’ll be impressed from the very first swatch.
Lottie London x Thuy Le Diamond Dips Face and Body Glitter Gels £4.95
“Get ready to get boujee with Thuy Le’s Diamond Dips glitter pots. You gotta have that bling! Designed for use on both face and body, these dazzling dips glide on easily and dry down for a full-on golden glitter finish with no mess.”
These Lottie London x Thuy Le glitters are so unique and whilst I only have one of the shades; So Instagrammable, there’s a second shade launching soon which will be a gorgeous rose gold glitter called Yaaaas. So Instagrammable has a clear gel base which is saturated with golden glitter particles, but the gel is so unique as it almost feels as if it’s water when applied to the skin with zero stickiness or residue like most glitter gels. I love how in the promotional images, Thuy Le has the glitter used to outline her cut crease which I imagine was applied with the finest of eyeliner brushes such as the Louise Young Superfine Eyeliner Brush. You could apply the glitter anywhere on the body, or even as an accent in your inner corners of the eyes. It’s a versatile product and there’s hardly any fallout when applied to the lids so it’s a good option if you love glitter but hate the mess. I can’t wait to get the rose gold shade as I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it.
Lottie London x Thuy Le Glitter Switch Liquid Lipsticks £6.95
“Press, pout and pop with Lottie London x Thuy Le’s Glitter Switch liquid lipstick. Featuring 3 new suits-all shades, hand-picked by Thuy and housed in limited edition golden packaging. So #extra.
This matte, no-transfer liquid lip applies and dries as normal but with a quick press of the lips switches to a lit glitter look that’ll add magic to your makeup!“
Lottie London already have four shades of their Glitter Switch Liquid Lipsticks but I haven’t tried them until now. I know everyone went crazy when the Glitter Switch Lipsticks launched so I’m happy to see three new shades as part of the Lottie London x Thuy Le Living My Best Life Collection. They’re a non-transfer liquid lipstick which you apply to the lips, leave for one minute to dry, press the lips together and reveal the amazing glitter effect. They’ve looked amazing from the photos I’ve seen online, and such a cool effect. The three shades within the Lottie London x Thuy Le collection are; Extra AF which is a bright pinky toned red with blue glitter, Spill the Tea which is a beige toned nude with golden glitter and Ravenous an intense berry red with blue and purple glitter.
The Glitter Switch Liquid Lipsticks are extremely pigmented and they stain the lips amazingly well so a precise application is a must otherwise you’ll struggle to remove it. The applicator is a thin, narrow doefoot with a small well which holds extra product so you don’t have to dip back into the tube. I think Extra AF and Ravenous couldn’t be more perfect for Winter, especially with their glitter effect which looks so pretty. I love Spill the Tea and would love some more nude shades if the collection is ever extended as the formula is comfortable even though it’s very longlasting.
I’d love to know if you’ve tried anything from the Lottie London x Thuy Le Living My Best Life Collection?
