I’m a massive nail polish obsessive with over 300 nail polishes in my collection, and I like to change my nail polish shade 2-3 times a week. I store my polishes within a set of drawers and I have a whole drawer dedicated to my OPI nail polishes as they’re one of the best nail polish formulas you can buy. To celebrate the launch of the Disney The Nutcracker and the Four Realms film which launched on the 2nd of November, OPI have collaborated with Disney for a OPI Nutcracker Nail Polish Collection and I have eleven of the shades to show you today. If you’ve never tried OPI polishes, you’re missing out as they’re easy to apply with a perfectly sized wider brush for even application and great lasting power.
Watching the Nutcracker ballet has become a very festive tradition for many, so it’s perfect that OPI and Disney have collaborated for a festive nail polish collection. If you’ve never watched the Nutcracker, or seen the new film it’s about a girl’s favourite toy; the Nutcracker coming to life and the original story was written in 1816.
The Disney adaptation is showing in cinemas across the country right now and although I haven’t seen the Disney version myself, I couldn’t wait to try this collection after reading some really great reviews.
The OPI Nutcracker Nail Polish Collection consists of twelve limited edition nail colours as well as three perfectly coordinating glitter shades inspired by the Disney movie. The polishes are available in the original OPI Nail Lacquer formula and are £13.50 each for 15ml, as well as their Infinite Shine 2 formula which are £14.50 but there are also the professional Gel formula which is a salon-only range.
All of my OPI Nutcracker Nail Polish Collection swatches are two generous coats with no base or top coat so you get a good representation of the coverage and finish.
OPI Lavendare to Find Courage – a pastel, white based lilac creme. Pastel creme polishes have a tendency to be very streaky but this shade had minimal streaks with two coats, but a third coat does cover up any streaks.
OPI Dancing Keeps Me On My Toes – a metallic white which looks lovely when worn alone, or layered over any other nail polish shade for a glistening snow effect. For a white based polish, Dancing Keeps Me On My Toes layers really well for full opacity.
OPI Dazzling Dew Drop – a yellow gold with silver sparkle and full opacity in two generous coats.
OPI Ginger’s Revenge – a deep, dark berry red.
OPI Envy The Adventure – a forest green creme.
OPI Candied Kingdom – *the* perfect neutral toned bright red creme with the BEST formula I’ve ever tried for a red polish. Everyone needs a bright red polish within their collection and this shade is pure perfection with very nearly opaque coverage in just one coat which never happens with reds.
OPI Black to Reality – a black jelly base loaded with red shimmer for a blackened plum effect. The more coats you apply with this shade, the more intense the red shift becomes and it looks like a metallic brown in some lights too.
OPI Berry Fairy Fun – a metallic purple shimmer with pinky purple sparkle. It’s streaky in one coat, but the streaks are minimised with the second coat but I’m wearing this shade on my nails in all of these photos and I used three coats. It’s my favourite shade within the collection without a doubt, it looks amazing under electric light as the sparkle really comes to life. It reminds me of a much sparklier version of the Marc Jacobs Oui Nail Polish too.
OPI March In Uniform – a deep navy creme. Navy polishes are notorious for being streaky but March In Uniform is the perfect navy shade and it looks amazing when layered with a light coat of Dancing On My Toes over the top.
OPI Dreams Need Clara-Fication – a white based pastel blue creme. I can’t believe how well this shade applies as every other pastel blue I’ve tried as being streaky and gloopy to apply, but this formula is a dream to apply with no streaks in only two coats. This would be a gorgeous shade for Spring!
OPI Toying With Trouble – a bright fuchsia pink creme. Another flawless formula which is almost opaque in one single coat, and is the perfect shade if you’re on the hunt for a pretty bright pink. Pinks which are bright like this can be very staining on the nails, but I haven’t had any staining with this shade and it’s currently on my toes and I love it so much.
The OPI Nutcracker Nail Polish Collection truly is an amazing collection in terms of formula and shades, and there isn’t one shade I don’t love. I love that OPI have included some gorgeous festive shades like Candied Kingdom, Envy The Adventure and Dazzling Dew Drop but they’ve also included some more fun shades such as Berry Fairy Fun and Dreams Need Clara-Fication. When applying the polishes, the OPI Start to Finish 3 in 1 is ideal as it works as a base coat to protect your nails, a top coat to seal your polish and add shine as well as being a nail strengthener too.
I’d love to know which shade within the OPI Nutcracker Collection is your favourite?
