I am over the moon that glosses are now popular again as I felt like the only person that didn’t go crazy for matte liquid lipsticks. I’ve always been a lip gloss lover, ever since I discovered the Natural Collection Toffee Lip Gloss which was £1.99 and I wore throughout secondary school into sixth form and I was gutted when it was discontinued. My next lipgloss love was the Barry M Lip Glosses which they’ve also discontinued, but I was crazy for the Toffee and Bubblegum Pink shades. Barry M launched a range of Matte Me Up Lip Kits, each containing a matte liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner, and following their success come the brand new Barry M Gloss Me Up Lip Kit £6.99.
The Barry M Gloss Me Up Lip Kit is available in only three shades, but you can purchase individual shades of the Gloss Me Up Lip Gloss for £4.99. I really hope Barry M choose to introduce more shades for the kits as there are twelve different matte lip kits.
I was tempted by all three of the new gloss kits but I chose one to start with and opted for Baby as it looked really pretty online but I didn’t know what the shade really looked like as I couldn’t find any swatches online.
For £6.99 you get a lip gloss, and a lip liner both of which are called “Baby”. The gloss looks almost identical to the old style Barry M lip glosses with a clear plastic tube, black writing and a black lid.
One of my favourite things about the old style Barry M Glosses were their amazing sickly sweet scents, but the scent of this new gloss is considerably more subtle with a strawberry Chewitts kind of scent.
The Barry M Gloss Me Up Lip Kit in Baby surprised me as the box is a very pale pink, but the gloss and liner are a lot darker than the box. The Baby Lip Liner is a medium pink with a satin finish, and the Baby Lip Gloss is a brightish pink with golden shimmer.
I really wish the gloss and liner matched the shade on the box but it’s still a very pretty shade regardless. The liner is a touch darker than the gloss, but they’re both pretty when worn alone or layered over eachother as showed above and when layered they last for around four hours on the lips.
The other two Lip Kits are; Gossip which looks like a vibrant orange and Femme which looks like a berry toned nude. I don’t think I’d buy the other two lip kits as they’re quite bold, but I love the look of the individual Gloss Me Up shades, especially Sugar and Vibe.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the Barry M Gloss Me Up Lip Kit? Are you a lip gloss fan?
