Stila Sea Siren Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Eyeshadow

The Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Eyeshadows are one of my favourite makeup discoveries over the last couple of years, and I’ve loved adding more shades to my collection ever since. So far I’ve got all neutral shades but I loved the look of Stila Sea Siren as a more colourful shade as I find purple to be easy to wear, and I thought it would go well with my Huda Beauty Desert Dusk and The New Nude Palettes. Stila launched their Sea Siren shade as part of their collection of mermaid inspired limited edition shades alongside Sunset Cove and Into The Blue.

“Make eyes magical with this duo-chrome shade of Glitter & Glow. This pearlescent, glitter eye shadow makes an impact with a holographic-like, multi-color, multi-dimensional effect.”

The Stila Sea Siren Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Eyeshadow £24 shade is described by Stila as being a “Bright Lavender with Duo Chrome Bright Blue Pearl”, which describes the shade perfectly. It has a lilac shimmery base, with a blue duochrome shift which really is stunning and quite pigmented too.

It doesn’t contain glitter like the other Glitter and Glow shades I own so I do wonder if the shade would have been better within their Shimmer and Glow range. The Sea Siren shade may be super pretty but there is a downside which puts me off trying it. Sea Siren stains so, so badly which isn’t something I’ve noticed with any of the other Glitter and Glow shades I own.

I can’t apply Stila Sea Siren to my bare lids otherwise I end up with fuchsia stained eyelids, so to make it work I have to use concealer as an eyeshadow base and then apply a powder eyeshadow over the top. If I then apply it over the shadow, the staining is very minimal but it is such a stunning shade that I don’t mind having to do a little extra work.

This shade reminds me of a liquid version of the Twilight shade within the Desert Dusk Palette which is why it works so well with the palette. The staining issues of Sea Siren won’t put me off trying more of their duochrome collection, but I won’t do massive swatches on bare skin next time as these swatches took days to disappear  😆

Have you got a favourite Stila Glitter and Glow Eyeshadow shade?
