Sunday Riley are one of the most loved skincare brands within the beauty community but I’d never tried any of their products until very recently. I’ve read nothing but rave reviews for their products but I just had no idea where to start as to be honest, I found their products to be confusing and I didn’t know which products would work for my skin. When Cult Beauty announced that Sunday Riley were their January Cult Brand of the Month, I figured it was the perfect opportunity to learn more about their products and the skin types they’re best suited for. Sunday Riley products are powered by science and balanced by botanicals, using their green technology commitment in which they promise non-irrita.ting, fast-acting formulas which are clean with the lowest amount of preservatives possible. All of their products are made in small batches, and the products are scented using flower and plant extracts and oils, instead of artificial fragrances.
They are an US based skincare brand, but lucky for us, Cult Beauty are their official UK stockist and for the month of January, they’re offering free international shipping on their products. Cult Beauty always have a great selection of free gifts on offer so I’d recommend checking their ‘Free Gift‘ section prior to making a purchase, but to coincide with being the Cult brand of the month, there’s also a Sunday Riley free gift offer too whilst stocks last. On orders of £75 or more on the Sunday Riley brand, you’ll receive a free deluxe size of their Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment which is such a good offer.
January is always a great month for trying new things and I’m doing everything I can to improve my skin, after overindulging over Christmas. The Sunday Riley products are divided into three ingredient based categories; AHA/BHA, Retinol and Vitamin C, and then into product categories; cleansers, exfoliators, treatments, moisturisers, oils, toners and eyes. The three products I have started with are the; Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream, the Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner and Sunday Riley UFO Ultra Clarifying Face Oil and I’ll be doing individual reviews on the products once I’ve given them a fully decent testing period but keep on reading to find out more.
Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream 15g £20
“A lightweight, oil-free gel-cream for instantly glowing, dewy skin. Two forms of advanced hyaluronic acid infuse water into the skin. Gently refining papaya enzymes smooth the look of textured or dehydrated skin, for a baby-soft complexion. Alpha-arbutin brightens the appearance of discolorations for clear radiance. FORMULATED FOR: Balanced / Dry/Dehydrated / Combination / Sensitive Skin.”
The Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream is available in two sizes; 15g and 50g, and this was the product I knew my skin would love from looking at the ingredients list. My skin is dry and dehydrated, as well as being sensitive and blemish prone so it’s hard to find products which will work for those issues as products for blemishes tend to be stripping and catered for more oilier skin. I think it’s great Sunday Riley offer a smaller trial size, and a larger size so you don’t have to splash out on the full size version incase you don’t like it. The cream can be applied both morning and night, and applied over Luna or Good Genes should you own them. It can even be patted on after makeup application for instant radiance and to keep foundation hydrated. Within fifteen minutes the skin will look and feel smoother, and hydration is significantly increased.
Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner 130ml £48
“Martian toner is formulated to target oily and blemish-prone skin concerns. Bentonite clay instantly mattifies excess oil, while visibly reducing pore size. Marshmallow and green tea soothe and cool the signs of redness and sensitive skin, for a calmer-looking complexion, while cucumber and witch hazel extracts tone and tighten. Manuka (a stronger relative of tea tree oil), in conjunction with black cumin and magnolia bark extract, provides purifying properties to balance oily and problem skin conditions, promoting a visibly improved, clearer, smoother, shine-free complexion. Skin is visibly cleaner, mattified, refreshed, and prepped for further skincare or color application. FORMULATED FOR: Balanced / Dehydrated / Oily / Combination / Sensitive Skin.”
This product caught my attention with its alien inspired name (just like the UFO did too) but I loved the idea of a product that instantly transforms from a cooling gel to a water toner as it clarifies, removes oil, and visibly tightens pores for clear, matte skin. The directions are to apply after cleansing, with your fingertips to massage it into the skin, and the toner will supposedly melt from a cooling gel into a mattifying water toner. I’ve never heard of a product like this before but it sounds so cool and I thought it would be great for treating my multiple skin concerns.
Sunday Riley UFO Ultra Clarifying Face Oil 15ml £34
“With 1.5 percent salicylic acid, this fast-acting, quick-drying, medicated oil clears acne and blackhead-causing buildup and debris from congested pores for smoother, blemish-free skin. Tea tree oil and black cumin seed oil support clear skin, while hexylresorcinol and licorice naturally brighten the appearance of old acne discolorations for a more even-toned complexion. Counterbalancing the potentially drying effects of salicylic acid, milk thistle, and cucumber seed oil nourish the skin and smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, without leaving a greasy residue. Chamomile and neroli soothe stressed, blemish-prone skin. FORMULATED FOR: Balanced / Oily / Combination / Dry/Dehydrated / Sensitive Skin.“
Seeing that the UFO oil had won the InStyle Best Beauty Award for 2017, I knew it would be a winner within my routine. The Sunday Riley oils are iconic but this is the oil I’ve seen the least on the blogs I read as I feel as if it’s all about the Luna oil. This green coloured facial oil is an acne treatment face oil that is best applied post cleanse to the face, neck and chest both day or night. This is another product available in a smaller 15ml size and a larger 35ml size, and it’s recommended the oil is used for three times a week initially to prevent purging of the skin (a result of an accelerated rate of exfoliation). I can’t wait to try this little number as I think it’s going to work really well for my skin and the reviews on Cult Beauty are very complimentary.
Remember you can get free international delivery on Sunday Riley orders during January. I’d love to know if you have any product recommendations from Sunday Riley for me?
