At the start of the year I didn’t make any resolutions like I usually do every year as I find that I rarely ever stick to them which only ends up leaving me feeling disappointed. I decided that this year I wanted to have a few things I’d love to do, but without the commitment of setting out a list of resolutions. Most of my aims are blog related and I’ve got a few series ideas for posts, and today is the first of my Five New Beauty Launches Under £5 series. There are always new products being launched within the beauty world, so much so it can be hard to keep up. I like to purchase as many new launches as possible as I like my blog to be a mix of purchased products and PR samples as I feel a balance is best but I obviously can’t purchase everything, so I thought this would be a good way of sharing my opinions on the new launches as well as telling you all about them. Also by doing this, I can gauge which products you’d want to see full reviews on going forward. I also have a more highend version to this series coming up, but let’s get onto the new products..
Revolution Cheek Kits £4
Is there ever a week where Revolution haven’t launched a new product? Their newest launch is a collection of four cheek palettes and they’re just £4 each however they do already have a number of blush palettes, including eight shades which are £6 and contain 13 grams of product like the Blush Goddess Palette. These new Revolution Cheek Kits contain just over 9 grams of product, with half the number of shades. I rarely use every shade in the eight pan blush palettes so I think these more compact palettes are ideal and they have clear lids which I always appreciate. There are four palettes in the range; Make It Count, Take a Breather, Fresh Perspective and Don’t Hold Back. Each of the shades have a marbled, baked finish so they’re bound to impart a pop of colour and glow in one.
Aussie Scent-Sational Smooth Shampoo, Conditioner and 3 Minute Miracle £4.19 – £4.99
Aussie is my favourite drugstore haircare brand and I’ve used their products ever since I was a teenager. I’ve always loved how amazing Aussie’s hair products smell so this new range really caught my eye with the Scent-Sational name. The Aussie Scent-Sational Collection is designed for frizzy hair to smooth the hair and leave the hair beautifully scented all day long. The collection includes a shampoo, conditioner, the 3 Minute Miracle and also a couple of oil treatments. I can’t wait to try these as I’ve already ordered them so I’ll report back once I’ve given them a try.
Barry M Lid Lock Eyeshadow Primer £4.99
Barry M are such an underrated makeup brand, and I feel as if their makeup products are overlooked as they’re so well known for their nail polishes. Don’t get me wrong, I love their nail polishes but their makeup is really good with their All Night Long Concealer being one of my favourite ever concealers. This new eyeshadow primer is designed to give smooth, crease proof eye makeup that stays looking fresh all day and night. I’ve not seen any swatches yet but it looks like it’s colourless with a silicone based formula. Not many drugstore brands offer colourless eyeshadow primers so it’s great Barry M have created one and it’s vegan too with 10ml of product.
Maybelline Tattoo Liner Gel Eyeliner Pencil £4.99
Maybelline have extended their Tattoo range which started off with the Color Tattoos, to include brow products and now the Maybelline Tattoo Liner Gel Eyeliner Pencils. The UK only has two shades right now at Superdrug and Boots; Black and Brown, but on Amazon there’s a rose gold, purple, teal, berry and silver and they’re all just £4.99. I think they look very similar to the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils so I really want try them and see how they compare as the Urban Decay Eyeliners are my favourite eyeliner formula.
Sleek PWDR Brow Shape + Sculpt Brow Pencils £4.99
The last product within my Five New Beauty Launches Under £5 #1 roundup is from Sleek. Ever since Sleek pulled out of Superdrug, I’ve not really kept up with their new launches but it appears like they’ve launched quite a few new eye products all at once. This collection of five brow pencils claim to offer the soft powdery texture with the precision of a pencil, with the ultra-blendable powdery texture provides a soft-matte finish for an effortless and buildable application. I really like the sound of this formula and the shades look good too, especially Ash Brown which I think will match my brows pretty well. I like that Sleek have gone for a conventional brow pencil rather than another mechanical brow pencil like every other brand, as sometimes I just want the quick and easy application that goes with a traditional pencil.
I’d love to know which of these launches you’re eyeing up? Have you tried any of them yet?
