MUA Pro Base Banana Blur Primer and Moisturising Primer Review

MUA Pro Base Banana Blur Primer and Moisturising Primer Review and Swatches

MUA relaunched their base range in 2018 and they introduced their Pro Base collection which includes of concealers, powders, setting sprays, primer oils, primer sticks and also primers. I’ve tried a few items from the range thus far and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality, especially as everything is £5 and under. Today I have two of the MUA Pro Base Primers to show you; the MUA Pro Base Banana Blur Primer, and also the MUA Pro Base Moisturising Primer both of which are £4 each but there is also one more version – the MUA Pro Base Oil Free Primer which I haven’t tried yet.

MUA Pro Base Banana Blur Primer £4

Described as being a velvety, mattifying primer with added Vitamin E. With a lightweight and softening texture which creates a smooth base for an even makeup application, complete with a delicate banana scent. The primer has a cream consistency which feels more like a face lotion than a blurring primer, and feels so watery when massaging into the skin.

The banana scent is amazing and reminds me of foam banana sweets, but it really does gently blur the skin. It’s not as effective as a pore-minimising primer packed with silicones, but it’s the perfect base for makeup for softening any pores or lines.

MUA Pro Base Moisturising Primer £4

I always gravitate towards more moisturising primers so this primer really appealed to me. MUA describe the formula as being a velvety smooth primer with added vitamins A & E, and tea tree oil. It’s been formulated to feel light and moisturising whilst creating a smooth based for even makeup – and it can be worn alone, or under makeup. Looking at the ingredients list, the Moisturising Primer contains glycerin which is why it feels so hydrating on the skin.

The MUA Pro Base Banana Blur Primer does contain silicone but it doesn’t feel at all slimey like many silicone primers, so I’ve enjoyed mixing them both to hydrate the skin but with gentle blurring action too. For £4 they really are great primers, and for 30ml of product they’re great value too.

Have you tried any of the MUA Pro Base Primers?
