Deodorants are such a boring thing to talk about and I have to be honest, I’ve never really cared which deodorant I used. I tended to swap between Nivea, Dove and Mitchum depending which was on offer when it was time to buy a new one although I didn’t have any issues with them over the years, I have been looking into more natural deodorants. I’ve been asked a few items recently, which aluminium deodorant I’d recommend, and whilst I haven’t tried all of these five aluminium free deodorants, I wanted to do a roundup with as many facts as possible and link to reviews where possible to hopefully give you a greater idea on how effective they all are. My choice to go for an aluminium free deodorant is a personal one, and I had no idea where you could get natural deodorants from initially, which is why I wanted to share the five aluminium free deodorants I’ve either tried, or am planning to try.
Kopari Beauty Coconut Beach Deodorant £12
I only know about the Kopari deodorants because they’ve sponsored quite a lot of American YouTubers, so sponsorship definitely works to get your product seen by a wider audience. I wasn’t even sure if you could get Kopari Beauty here in the UK, but Free People stock a selection of their products including the Coconut Beach Deodorant.
The aluminium free deodorant claims to glide on clear, with a non sticky formula that’s longlasting and leaves you smelling like fresh coconut milk. As well as being aluminium free, it’s also free from parabens, silicones and phthalates. It has a 100% plant based formula that works with your body’s natural functions to aid in odour reduction. It uses a unique blend of coconut water, coconut oil, and sage oil to condition and soothe, even the most sensitive of underarms.
Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant – Vanilla Coconut £18
Lavanila is a brand I’ve heard the most from in terms of natural deodorants, which again is mostly from watching America based YouTube videos. I didn’t even know we could get their products here in the UK, but Feelunique have a great range of their deodorants with both full size and mini sizes available.
Out of all of their different versions, the Vanilla Coconut appeals the most as vanilla and coconut separately are two of my favourite scents so to combine the two couldn’t be more perfect. There’s a lot of science behind their deodorants, which you can read here.
“Get superior, long-lasting odor protection with this award-winning, aluminum-free, deodorant. Powered by natural, beta glucan technology, this formula works to eliminate odor and absorb wetness while still allowing your skin to breathe. Infused with pure essential oils, this velvet soft solid glides on clear, with no sticky wetness. Tip! Allow up to 30 days for your body to adjust to formula.”
Neal’s Yard Remedies Peppermint & Lime Deodorant £8
This is the only pick within my five aluminium free deodorants that I have personally tried, and I reviewed it on my blog here, quite a few years ago now. I didn’t find this particular formula to be super effective, but I have issues with my heart rate which then causes me to perspire a lot so I think it might work more effectively for the average person, but I needed something a little stronger. I still wanted to include it because it smells so lovely, but I’d recommend reading the reviews on their website prior to purchase to make sure it’ll work for you.
“With a fresh and invigorating scent, our Peppermint & Lime Deodorant delivers aluminium free, clinically proven 24hr protection. It has been formulated to help naturally guard against odour and wetness with cleansing shikimic acid and moisture-absorbing bamboo powder. A skin-loving combination of organic essential oils delivers a gentle yet effective way to face the day with confidence.“
Milk + Honey Extra Strength Deodorant £18
This is the second of my aluminium free deodorants that is available from Free People and is one I really want to try. Described as being a natural, aluminium free deodorant that keeps you smelling fresh all day without the harmful chemicals of other deodorants. The formula provides maximum coverage with relaxing lavender and calms the skin with herbaceous tea tree that naturally inhibits odour-causing bacteria.
There is a review on the website which said it didn’t work as it didn’t stop them sweating but that’s not what a deodorant is. An antiperspirant stops sweating, whereas a deodorant allows you to sweat but neutralises the scent to minimise odour. This is a deodorant and not an antiperspirant so I’m hoping it’ll work well for me.
“FRESH. This aluminum-free, extra-strength deodorant keeps you feeling (and smelling) fresh all day. Ideal for those who love our original Cream Deodorant or is convinced natural deodorant would never work for them, this formulation provides maximum coverage. Directions: Warm deodorant by pressing against your underarm for a few seconds. Then, apply liberally to ensure full coverage. Reapply as necessary.“
Malin + Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant £12 / £19
The last of my aluminium free deodorants is from Malin + Goetz and I had no idea they have had a natural deodorant, and the reviews on the SpaceNK website are pretty complimentary. Described as being a deodorant that is suitable for use on even the most sensitive skin. This cooling, natural antiperspirant is easily absorbed into the pores for long-lasting protection with zero irritation or residue.
The lightweight, organic formula is designed to soak easily into the skin without leaving staining or tacky residue. It keeps the underarms fresher for longer, every day. I particularly like the sound of this one as it’s antibacterial and alcohol free, as well as being available in a travel size and mini size too.
“Pure eucalyptus is renowned for its antibacterial and antiseptic qualities, making it the perfect ingredient for use in a deodorant. Neutralising and counteracting bacteria helps reduce odour and maintain a fresh feeling throughout the day. The refreshing eucalyptus extract found in Malin + Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant works with citronellyl methylcrotonate to cleanse the skin and neutralise odours, providing up to 24 hours of freshness.“
